Joyful time with a wonderful friend. 素敵なお友達と楽しい時間

Yesterday, on Sunday Feb.12, I met one of my best friends, Junko.  We had lunch at Anna Miller's near Shinagawa Station.  We enjoyed chatting over delicious lunch & bottomless coffee for about 2 hours and a half.　Anna Millar's has been my favorite restaurant for more than 30 years....there used to be many branches like at Akasaka-Mitsuke, Hiroo and Yokohama etc.  However, the one in Yokohama closed recently that the one in Shinagawa is the only one in Japan now.  There are Anna Miller's in Hawaii and Calif. in USA.

And then, we went to Higashi-Ginza to Jazz Concert together.  It is always so exciting to go to concert.  I love Jazz and makes me feel so young and happy.

Now that I am writing the lylics for World Peace and Love in the World, I got some inspirations, listening the many Jazz songs.　Actually, I used to be a member of Female Jazz Singers at Roppongi.

It is always so joyful to share good time with wonderful friend like Junko-san.  Friendship like this is my treasure that I cannot buy with money.

昨日、２月１２日の日曜日、お友達の淳子さんとランチをご一緒しました。品川近くのアンナ・ミラーズというアメリカン・スタイルのレストラン。　このレストランは私が学生の頃からのお気に入りで、昔は、赤坂見附、広尾、横浜などにあって、大好きなマロンパイのファンで３０年以上・・・ところが、最近、横浜店もなくなり、日本では品川店のみとなり、後はハワイとカリフォルニアだけになってしまいました。アンナ・ミラーズのコーヒーは、お変わり自由なんです。bottemless coffeeは、アメリカでは普通なんですよ。（いわゆる、底なしコーヒー！）　そこで、美味しいランチを食べながら、２時間半もおしゃべり。とっても楽しかったです。

その後、東銀座に淳子さんと一緒に、ジャズコンサートに行きました。　コンサートに行くのは本当にわくわくする事で、私は特にＪａｚｚが大好きなんです。気持ちも、若返ってとても幸せでした。実は　昔、六本木の女性ジャズコーラスで歌っていたんです。

最近は、世界の平和や、世界の愛などをテーマに歌の歌詞を書いているので、コンサートの歌を聞きながら、色んな気持ちがこみ上げて来て、新たなインスピレイションが湧いてきました。

淳子さんのような素敵なお友達と、楽しい時間を共にするのは本当に幸せです。友情は、お金では買えない私の宝です。

Additional pictures about Noriko's World Library

Here are　４ additional pictures.  First one is when my best friend, Ruth from California visited my library.  Ruth used to my English teacher when I was a high school student but became the best friend later.  The second one is when Brenda from London visited . I used to babysit for Brenda when she was a baby in Tokyo when I was a high school student.  Brenda got married last year.

Third picture is the message from Ms. Marcia Brown who is the author of "The Three Billy Goats Bruff" and the next one is me reading a picture book.

１　私の高校時代の英語の先生だった、ルースがアメリカのカリフォルニアから来てくれました。その後、彼女とは親友になりました。

２　私が高校時代にベビーシッターをしていたブレンダがロンドンから来てくれました。彼女は、昨年結婚しました。

３　３回、絵本の世界でアカデミー賞の、コルデコット賞を３回受賞した、「さんびきのヤギのガラガラドン」をかいた、マーシャ・ブラウンからのメッセージに色紙です。

４　私が絵本を読んでいる写真です。あの頃は若かった（笑）

Noriko's World Library

These pictures are the children who came to Noriko's World Library that I used to have in Kobe (in Hyoto Prefecture near Kyoto & Osaka .) established in 1994.  It was a private volunteer library at my home.  I had about 5000 English & Japanese Picture books like "Little Yellow and Little Blue" "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" "Seven Blind Mice" "Mrs Rumphius" " The Little House" "Play With Me" "The Carrot Seed" "Harry The Dirty Dog" "Where The Wild Thins Are" and "The Three Billy Goates Gruff" by Marcia Brown who wrote  a mail with her illastuation from "Cinderella" with the words, "To the Boys and Girls who come to Noriko's World Library.  A warm greeting and welcome to delight!"

I published bilingual newsletters full of the articles what's happning the time of events.  I invited people from overseas and enjoyed reading pictue books aloud in both in English & Japanese, sang English songs, danced English dancing, storytelling, shared having refreshment I prepared.

Now that my sons are grown up that I re-started this blog to reach out not only in Japan but also in the whole world.ry

P.S. I am very sorry I deleted the pictures of the children who came to my library because they are personal.  It is to prevent the personal information to be used for bad cause.

下の写真は、Noriko's Word Libraryで開催されたイベントでの写真です。　神戸で１９９４年に我が家を開放して出来た、私設家庭文庫です。　英語と日本語の絵本が約５０００冊ほどありました。エリック・カールの「あおくんときいろちゃん」「はらぺこあおむし」、バーバラ・クーニーの「ランピスさん」、バージニア・リー・バートンの「ちいさなおうち」、マリー・ホール・エッツの「わたしとあそんで」、モーリス・センダックの「かいじゅうたちのいるところ」、マーシャ・ブラウンの「さんびきのヤギのガラガラドン」などの英語版と日本語版など。マーシャ・ブラウンさんは、コルデコット賞３回受賞した、絵本作家ですが、彼女からは、彼女の「シンデレラ」の絵本のイラスト入りの色紙で「Noriko's World Libraryに来た子どもたち、その楽しさにようこそ！」と、お便りを頂きました。

又、バイリンガルのニュースレターを発行して、イベントでしたことや、来て下さった子供たちからのお手紙を紹介したりして、１０００部ほど国内外に郵送しました。イベントでは、私の友達の外国人を招き、バイリンガルで絵本を読んだり、英語で歌ったり、踊ったりして楽しく過ごしました。私は、サンドイッチや軽いお食事や飲み物を用意して、来て下さった子供たちと一緒にイベントの後、食べながら交流しました。　本当に楽しい思い出です。

残念ながら、この前の記事で書いたように、私が東京に転居で、閉鎖せざるを得ませんでした。　やっと、子育ても終わり、これからは、このライブラリーを、このブログから再開して発信していきたいと思います。
