It was fun to be out and enjoy learning how to teach English with enthusiastic teachers all over Japan.
Ritsuko Kagawa Nakata-sensei is one of my mentor teachers who taught me the fundamental principle of teaching English.
So I love to attend her workshops whenever I have a chance, and yesterday was the very precious one, since I have been away these kinds of workshops for a couple years.
Why I try to join the ETJ is that they do presentations all in English as far as I attended, so it's good have a lot of input not only English education but also psychology or other human resources subjects from young learners to adults.
I used to use MAT method Ritsuko sensei created, and the seminar reminded of her way of teaching and my classes, and it's such a fun being a student and do janken to practice the pattern of the sentences.
The title of the seminar was that "Getting forgetful kids to remember".
Ritsuko-sensei said, (may not be all correct)
Why do kids forget? (Quote)
1, Not paying attention
2. Not understanding
3. Not getting enough exposure
4. Not getting enough exercises (practices)
5. Not interested
According to the 2011 survey, 56% of the 1st year junior high students don't like English.
So, Ministry of Education should take this result seriously.
