画像は今朝 Wesleyan College からメールで送られてきた同窓会のお知らせです。
インターネットのおかげでウエスレヤンの仲間と気軽にメールのやり取りやチャットが出来るようになったことが本当に嬉しいです。
タイトルの Pay it forward、日本語では、恩返しではなく「恩送り」、恩を受けた相手に返すのではなく、それを先へ広げると言うような意味です。

Wesleyan College、２年間の在学中にもお世話になりましたが、５年前のリユニオンでは、クラスメイトにそして、多くのWesleyaneeにも声を掛けてもらい、またネットでおしゃべりするようになって、Uncommon Women(非凡は女性たち）の集団だと確信しています。
その中でも、Bryndis W. Robertsの活躍は秀でているように思います。
下記はBryndis が数日前にFacebook に書き込んでいた"Pay it forward" 内容が素敵で感動、感覚が日本人のそれと変わらないなと思ったので、今週の英会話レッスンで使用しました。こちらのブログにアップしても良いと彼女から許可を貰ったので転載します。
As I was leaving court today, I met an 86 year old woman who had come out in the cold weather in response to a summons for jury duty. She was not selected to serve on a jury and was trying to find a phone to call her son to come and pick her up. I was so impressed at her willingness to fulfill her civic duty that I called her son for her and then, because she reminded me so much of my Mother and my other older female relatives, I took her home so that she would not have to sit and wait for him. It was an absolutely delightful interlude in an otherwise very stressful week and I am so blessed to have this opportunity to pay it forward!
