2020年をキーワードにおもてなし検定とか応対能力検定とかまで出てきたおもてなし英語熱。
結局英会話レッスンの挨拶とか、道案内とか、それに毛が生えたようなものが多いようなので、その上を行くエーゴを身に付けたいですよね。
ということで、全国のブロガーさんを訪ねてあちこちで読者登録させてはいただいているんですが、毎日覗き見しに行っては素通りで帰ってくるのがやっとの始末で、ほんとすみません！
そこで、日本について語れることを毎回短い英文で紹介していこうと思います。
題して、『日本人だもの日本を語れるさ！』です。
第１回目の今日は、日本の国土。（１）
正しい知識を得るためと、すでにあるものを活用させていただくために総務省統計局の総合統計書から引用させていただきます。
1. Land
Japan is an island nation situated off the eastern seaboard of the Eurasian continent in the northern hemisphere. The islands form a crescent-shaped archipelago stretching from northeast to southwest parallel to the continental coastline with the Sea of Japan in between. The land is located between approximately 20 to 45 degrees north latitude and between approximately 123 to 154 degrees east longitude. It consists of the main islands of Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Okinawa, and more than 6,800 smaller islands of varying sizes. Its surface area totals approximately 378,000 square kilometers.

あ、でも大阪市がサンフランシスコ市の不誠実さにブチ切れて友好都市破棄してますから、他の国にしましょう。
It is two times bigger than U.K. イギリスの２倍だよんって言うとこれまたイギリス人がひがむかもしれないので、
It is slightly larger than Germany. ちょっとだけならいいよね。
It is two times smaller than France. おフランスに花を持たせて。
It is twenty times smaller than Australia. まあ、あらゆる意味でデカイです。
日本は謙遜の文化ですから。
