George Nevada: 'Starry Dome' for piano
This is taken from 'Piano Meditation - Music for the New Age'. George Nevada (1939-2014) appears to be a pen name for Manfred Schmitz, the prolific East German composer of teaching pieces in jazz and popular styles. I am a long-standing admirer of his work and you can find many other pieces by him on this channel, under both names. This is set for ABRSM grade 5 (2021-22). There is a particularly striking pedal effect (audible between 0:46 to 0:56 then immediately repeated and appearing again later in the piece), where you are required to hold the pedal down for several bars to create a 'halo' of sound. Do listen out for it. Apologies for the slightly blurred picture: the lens of the camera was fogged. But somehow that suits the piece!
