鴻巣市の「人形製作」は約400年の歴史があるといわれ、鴻巣の貴重な地場産業として現在に伝えられています。
「鴻巣びっくりひな祭り」は、歴史ある鴻巣雛のまちとして「ひな人形のふるさと～鴻巣～」を広く宣伝すること、すべての市民でひな祭りを楽しむこと、市外から多くの観光客をお迎えし、まちを明るく元気にすることを目的とし、これまで19回開催をしてまいりました。
20回目の開催となる今回は、全国的にも有名となった“ひな人形で飾る日本一高いピラミッドひな壇”(31段高さ7m）の展示及び各サテライト会場でのひな人形の展示を中心として実施いたします。
ひな祭りは元々、五節句のひとつ「上巳（じょうし）の節句」であり、季節の節目に邪気払いをする行事とひいな遊びとが結びついて広がった歴史があります。この思いに沿って無病息災を願うイベントとして実施してまいります。
なお、今年度も、当事業を通じて、東日本大震災の被災地の方々を支援します。
