Good afternoon!! This is my first blog since early August. Starry was closed for the summer break until Tuesday of this week. Many students have been returning to their English classes here during the past few days. For some kids, the last time we saw them was in July!!! It's still very hot in Sendai recently, so I think that a lot of kids feel like summer vacation hasn't really ended yet. But in Canada where I'm from, trees are already starting to look like this now:
Can you see the yellow leaves beginning to appear next to the green leaves? In Canada, summers are pretty short. In fact, we have a joke we like to tell foreigners (non-Canadians). We say, "Canada actually has only 2 seasons: July, and winter". Ha ha... It's not really true, though. Winter does not last 11 months in my country!! But it IS true that early June is sometimes still a little cool, and that trees in late August are often starting to change color already.
Also, look at the chart above. I used to live in Vancouver before I moved to Japan. As you can see, the maximum temperature (最高温度) there in July and August is usually only around 22 degrees Celcius. So Canadian summers, especially in western Canada, are not as warm as Japanese summers. That's why I am always feeling quite hot here in Sendai! These days, I often look like this:
I am looking forward to the cooler weather in September and October, because I like autumn much more than summer!!
