Good afternoon! I hope you are having a nice Friday so far. Have you been watching the Tokyo Paralympics??
They started on August 24th and end on September 5th. It's easy for me to remember those dates, because my sister's birthday is Aug. 24th (the day the Paralympics began). Here she is:
Her name is Michelle! And my brother's birthday is Sep. 6th (the day after the Paralympics end). Here he is:
His name is Jim. I'm sorry that his picture is in black and white! I couldn't find a color photo of him to copy here. Anyway, the Paralympics have been very exciting so far. I like watching wheelchair basketball, because the players have so much skill and move really quickly in their wheelchairs.
This is a photo of the Japanese women's team playing Australia. Japan won the game 73 to 47! Also, the athletes we can see at the Paralympics are truly amazing. A good example is the table tennis player Ibrahim Hamadtou from Egypt. He has no arms because of an accident that happened when he was 10 years old. But he holds the racket (or "paddle", as we say in North America) in his mouth. He is able to win many games against strong players. When I see him, it makes me feel like people can do anything they want in life if they don't give up.
So let's cheer for these wonderful athletes! The Paralympics will only be here for a couple more days. Go, Japan!!!!
