I mentioned in one of my blogs recently that I had my birthday this month. In North America, the date we are born is very important because that tells us what our "sign" is. Here are the 12 signs:
Since my birthday is October 1st, I am a Libra. In Japanese, the 3 spring signs of Aries, Taurus, & Gemini are Ohitsujiza (牡羊座), Oushiza (牡牛座), and Futagoza (双子座). The 3 summer signs of Cancer, Leo, & Virgo are Kaniza (蟹座), Shishiza (獅子座), and Otomeza (乙女座). The 3 autumn signs of Libra, Scorpio, & Sagittarius are Tenbinza (天秤座), Sasoriza (蠍座), and Iteza (射手座). And the 3 winter signs of Capricorn, Aquarius, & Pisces are Yagiza (山羊座), Mizugameza (水瓶座), and Uoza (魚座). As you can see from the photo here, today (October 22nd) is the last day of the Libra sign.
People who are Libras usually try to balance many things in their life. They want everyone around them to be happy. In Canada & America, we believe that the sign of your birth shows what kind of personality you have! Here in Japan though, the "Western Zodiac" is not so popular. The "Eastern Zodiac" is much more important. They are based on the year you are born, not the date you are born. Below are those 12 signs:
I am an ox (sometimes also called a cow). People who are born in the year of the ox are almost always hard-working, but they often have trouble changing when the situation becomes different and new. My father is a pig (also called a wild boar sometimes), and my sister is a rooster (or called a bird by some people). How about you? What are your Eastern and Western Zodiac signs? Do you think your personality matches those signs??
