Jimmy Raney - Live In Tokyo (1976).

''Live in Tokyo'' is a live album by guitarist Jimmy Raney which was recorded in Japan in 1976 and released on the Xanadu label. This album features the great guitarist Jimmy Raney in a trio with bassist Sam Jones and drummer Leroy Williams, all regulars for the Xanadu label in the 1970s. The boppish performances (which Raney considers among his very best) are subtle with lots of interplay between the players. High points include "Anthropology," "A Burning Cherokee," and Raney's unaccompanied playing on "Stella By Starlight."(AllMusic)... "...Barry Harris,Sam Jones,and Leroy Williams played the first set of each concert during the April,1976 Silver Session Tour of Japan. After a ten minute intermission the curtain rose for the second set and seated on stage were Sam Jones and his bass and Leroy Williams with a new set of rented japanese drums.(His own set unfortunately was stolen from the back of a car the week before we left for Japan..."

(James Elbert Raney、20年1927月10日 - 1995年1月2日)
アメリカ合衆国ケンタッキー州ルイビル生まれ
1953年から1954年まで、そして1954年から1955年までレッド・ノーヴォ・トリオ(タル・ファーロウの後任)と、
同じ時期にスタン・ゲッツと共演したことで知られる。
ギターでダウンビート批評家の投票を獲得。

1946年、彼はシカゴのエルマーズでマックスミラーカルテットのギタリストとして在籍
アーティ・ショウ・オーケストラでも働き、1948年にウディ・ハーマンと1967か月間コラボレーションしました。
彼はまた、バディ・デフランコ、アル・ヘイグ、そして後にボブ・ブルックマイヤーとコラボレーションして録音しました。
4年、アルコール依存症やその他の職業上の困難により、彼はニューヨーク市を離れ、生まれ故郷のルイビルに戻りました。
