ビグィーン / Beguine ----- カリブのリズム。ハワイアンにも通じる、南国の海洋民族らしいシンコペーション。タイトルも思わせぶり ----- “Begin The Beguine” / 『ビグィーンの演奏が始まる時』とでも訳せばいいだろうか。

子供の頃、日劇『ウエスタン・カーニバル』に潜り込んで遊んでいた頃のことだ。当時 ----- 今年、もうすぐ70歳になる ----- 尾藤イサオが、この曲 ”Begin The Beguine” を歌うのを聴いた思い出がある。指折り数えれば、尾藤、24歳の秋。彼より年上の歌い手は、すべてロカビリー時代の残党。彼だけが新しい英国風の感覚を醸していたのが印象に残る。
日本ではフリオ・イグレシアスの歌で有名だが、今夜は懐かしいテレサの広東語ヴァージョンで。
