Journal of a "Bride" in New York

I write my daily experiences outside Japan.

Skype

2010-09-24 | 日記
Since I left my family to live overseas all of a sudden, my parents wanted to have a TV telephone to get to see me.
So they decided to buy a PC.
A TV telephone used to be thought to be a future dream device.

Currently we can use SKYPE on PC with a web camera, which exactly serves as so called TV telephone – free of charge! We are living in a super age.

It seems the SKYPE was a wonder of wonders for my parents.
When I contacted them on SKYPE, my father looked into the PC, bringing his face close to its screen. It’s too closeup!

“You don’t have to look into it that close. I can see you well enough.”

Going to Manhattan - SOHO & NYU

2010-09-23 | 日記
I went to the shop a friend of mine works for by subway.
That shop sells Japanese goods in SOHO, a prime location.
It is cool.

As I walked from there toward the north,
I came across NYU which was made up of many buildings
just as one would expect in a big city.
It was very different from the image I had had for an American huge college campus with lawn spreading out.

I had sandwich for lunch on the bench in a corner of NYU campus.
There I found a surveillance camera set up
as I just heard 500 additional cameras set up in a TV news in Manhattan this morning.
I wondered if NY police was actually watching me.

Two college students were praying for each other near me. I was reading the Bible.
I was going to say to the camera, “See? We ARE Christians, not suspicious persons.”

Tournado

2010-09-20 | 日記
Last Thursday black clouds gathered over, and it rained in torrents.
When that happened, I heard a tornado was hitting Queens in NY.

A family who comes to our church told us about it,
saying only the path the tornado went through was devastated
like a monster trampled it under foot.

I've never heard of a tornado near by and on the east coast.
Power of nature is great!

“Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

(The Bible; Isaiah 40:26)

Healing

2010-09-17 | 日記
In the meeting inviting a pastor from Tokyo,
a pain in the right-hand shoulder of my husband was healed! Hallelujah!

It was said through the word of knowledge (the gift of the Holy Spirit) in the meeting,
“A pain from the right side neck through the shoulder is healed.”
When that was spoken through the pastor, my husband thought it was for him right away.
He has had a pain on the right-hand shoulder to arm, and sometimes had to take a painkiller.
When he saw a doctor long time ago, the doctor told me that the pain was caused by the neck spine.
So I have been praying for his neck healed.

On the day that word of knowledge was spoken, he forgot about it because he was busy.
The following day, I reminded him of that, he started to turn his neck to check
and was surprised to find the pain was gone.

I’m thankful that God has healed him so clearly

Ice Cream

2010-09-09 | 日記
I served my nephew an American dessert ice cream after a meal.
As soon as he tasted it, he said it was too sweet.
He gave up on it with only three spoonfuls.

My nephew said, “This sweetness can be compared with that of sugar with syrup on, honey on and maple syrup on top of it.
It ruins our sense of taste! It’s poison!!”

I said to him, “That sweet? Tell that to my husband to warn him.”

It's proved again that American obesity is caused by what they eat.

What we eat is really important, isn’t it?
However, the Scripture says:

“Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
