Journal of a "Bride" in New York

I write my daily experiences outside Japan.

To the clinic

2013-11-30 | 日記
We went to the clinic our friend works for.
We left our home in New Jersey and headed for New York.

We crossed the bridge from Manhattan to Queens Borough, where my husband was supposed to see a doctor.

By the way, a clinic I called and asked before was charging $290.00 for the first-time visit fee alone.
So I started to worry how much was going to be charged if my husband needed to have some exams.
Anyway, I gave thanks to God about it, and prayed to Him for healing.

Today he was taken special care of in this clinic ! We really appreciated it.

The medicine he was prescribed worked right away;
The dull pain in the stomach was gone and he got his appetite back.
Though he still need to wait and see the results of the exams, I pray he will be completely healed.

Anyway, I give thanks to God for all the special arrangements my husband has had today.

Porridge

We have had porridge every day these days because my husband had a stomachache.

I changed the flavor of porridge like Miso taste, Chinese taste
and put different ingredients in it.

Tonight my husband made a suggestion of putting Oden ingredients in the porridge.
I was not sure how it would turn out, but I found it pretty good.
My husband didn't like it very much.

By the way, we were able to talk to one of our acquaintance
who is a medical personnel about his stomachache;
she made a reservation for him to see a doctor in the clinic she works for.
We are so grateful for her concern and kindness.

Outage

When I was just going to prepare for dinner, the power went out.
Since the elevators stopped,
some of the residents of the apartment were going up and down the stairs.
People were gathering up at the entrance of the apartment;
one of them said that the power was out in our town.

Yes, it was pitch dark in the whole town with no street lights on but traffic lights.

To get ready for dinner, I put some battery- operated candles
around the cutting board to light up
and looked for food in the refrigerator using a flashlight.

It was fun but it was inconvenient.

I thought we wouldn't know where things were and where to move in the pitch darkness without light.

As the Bible says the word of God is a lamp of my feet,
I realized one more time that I really needed to rely on the word of God.

We are in the generation when what is normal becomes abnormal all of a sudden.
This outage incident caused me to think
that I needed to make a preparation for the future
and that I needed to do that by prayer first.

The outage lasted only one hour and half.
I was grateful that we didn't have to spend cold night that day.
Thank God !

The trip to Israel 2

2013-11-13 | 日記

We were able to stay at the hotel right by the Sea of Galilee for five nights!

Last year we were told that this hotel was fully booked
when we had made a reservation for this year's trip.
However, our church prayed earnestly; as a result, it became a come-from-behind victory!

I love this lake-side place; I feel the peace that God is so close with me.
I can simply pray and have fellowship with the Lord for a long, long time there.

The Words I received there were:

“Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14 )

and “ And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher.”(II Timonthy 1:11)

Given those Words, I felt I was encouraged to obey God and step out for the gospel,
and I was glad to sense that God Himself appointed me as a missionary.

My husband who works full time seemed to have a pure joy
to spend plenty of quiet time with the Lord at Galilee.

The trip to Israel 1

I’m going to bring you some memories from the trip to Israel.

On Nov. 4 we went to Mt. Hermon, which is the highest mountain in Israel.
That mountain is located at the edge of the most northern part, near the border of Lebanon and Syria.

We found the rainbow colored ring around the sun !!
We gave praise and worship to the Lord on the summit !
This is place is known for “the Transfiguration” in the Bible: Jesus’ appearance was changed and became bright as a flash of lightning.
: A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

My husband with Israeli soldiers after coming down the mountatin

A beautiful rainbow colored cloud with a bird-shaped cloud had been up in the sky
while we were coming down the mountain and was with us for some time while departing that place by bus!
We take it as a sign of heaven.
So I give thanks to God for it.
