… この曲の冒頭では穏やかな川の流れを彷彿とさせる、美しく穏便なポリフォニーで始まり、その後『跪き、涙を流す』場面では一転、決然としたホモフォニーが現れる。どれだけ、このシーンが『非日常』であり、『悲劇的な出来事』だったのかを、見事なレトリックで物語っているといえる。また、 曲の終わりには、各パートに3拍子が隠されており、上に書いた『強い信仰心の表れ』を『完全な数による拍子=3拍子』で表現している。なお、この終盤に現れる3拍子は、分母が違う2種の3拍子が混在しており、幾何学的な美しさを形成している。
