バックカントリースノーボードとはなんぞや？～司さんから引用

自分にとってはいつまでたっても忘れられない人だが、司さんは自分のことを覚えてもいないだろう。

その司さんが20年以上も前に雑誌に書いた文章だ。

改めて読んでみて、感心する事多し。四半世紀近くたった今でもその通りだと感じる。

 フリーライディングとか
バックカントリースノーボードなどというように,
ひとつの言葉にしてしまったとたん
この自由な遊びも 一定のスタイルとして
カテゴライズされてしまうものだが、
実際には雪が降り積もった斜面を
滑り降りるだけの事であって
 何も特別な事はない。 

 カービングで氷を
切り刻むようなスタイル、
整備されたパークで
大きなトリックをメイクするスタイル、
ただ単純にリフトを使い
スキーヤーに混じって滑る事も
  そう異なった事ではない、 

 ただ少しだけ目的としたコンディションが違う

  という事だけだ。 

 もともと整備されない
自然のスロープを楽しむ事を前提として
誕生したスノーボーディングという遊びは、
スキーによって養われて来た
テクノロジーを受け継ぐ事によって
スキーのために用意された
コンディションでも楽しめるように
進化、変化して行った.そして,
スキーリゾートといったインフラを
バックグランドにする事で
一気にメジャーな遊び
  スポーツとして発展して来た。 

 パウダーライディングにおける
テクニックにしろ知識にしろ、
 そう難しい事を要求するわけではない. 

 ゲレンデの固いコンディションを
難なく滑る事ができるようになった
スノーボードのマテリアルは,
ディープなパウダースノーを、
滑るには好都合な性能を
  そのまま残してここまで進化して来た。 

 パウダースノーでのカービングターンと
グルーミングバーンでの、
カービングの技術に
大きな違いがあるわけでもない。
そしてウェアー、クロージングに至るまで
単にスタイリッシュではなく、
ハードでシリアスなクライミングウェアーと
ほとんど変わりない
 性能クオリティを持つようになった。

  一方で原点とも言える自然のスロープ 

  そのオープンバーンに降り積もる 

  パウダースノーの世界へと

 回帰して行った一群がある。
 
  
 それをことさらに

  バックカントリースノーボーダーと呼び 

  またその中のさらにコアな

  カテゴライズされない一群を
