実は、中国でも一箇所だけ開戦も終戦も同じ所があります。

（当時の香港を中国と考えるかどうか、疑問の余地が残る
所だとは思いますが、ひとまず話を進めます）
１９４１年１２月８日、真珠湾攻撃と正に同日、日本軍は
英国領香港の侵攻を開始しました。太平洋の遥か向こうの
大きな国と違って、同じ年のクリスマスには、あっけなく
陥落。これが「ブラック・クリスマス（黒色聖誕）」です。
以降、日本軍が降伏する１９４５年８月１５日まで、長い
ような、短いような、日本軍占領期が始まります。
ただ１９３０年代にも、日本軍の中国侵攻が深まるにつれ、
地続きの広東省などから難民がどっと押し寄せて来た為か、
少なくとも中国系市民の反日意識は非常に高かったようで、
１９３１年の「九・一八」直後、日本人一家が群衆に惨殺
されるという痛ましい事件が起きています。

Japanese family hacked to death

Scenes of horror came to Kowloon City in autumn 1931 when mobs broke into a house and hacked and kicked to death a Japanese family. It was the worst incident in the anti-Japanese rioting that paralysed the city for two weeks.
The trouble began on September 23 when the Chinese government declared a day of national humiliation following the murders of hundreds of Manchurians, including women and children, by the Japanese army in Shenyang.
In Kowloon, eight rioters were shot dead as police battled to control mobs of thousands. Japanese were stoned and beaten, bricks were hurled at police and the hysterical crowds then turned on Europeans. The police Flying Squad made hundreds of arrests. Magistrates sentenced attackers to years in prison and possession of anti-Japanese posters was rewarded with a month in jail.
Many Japanese residents fled their homes for the safety of ships in the harbour, which became floating refugee camps. More than 900 people crowded into the Japanese Primary School on Kennedy Road, Mid-Levels, guarded by a large police contingent. Armed sailors stood watch at Japanese shipping company offices. On the third day of rioting a mob more than 1,000 strong surrounded the Kowloon villa where the Yamashita family lived.
Police had to fire at and bludgeon howling rioters to enter the house, where they eventually found the Yamashitas, including a four-year-old boy and his grandmother, 74, chopped to pieces.
A state of emergency was declared and governor Sir William Peel expressed his disgust, saying the riots had besmirched the name of the colony.

余談ですが、私は今もなお連合軍と暮らしています。家に
いるのは、英国出身のフォックスという狸親爺（old fox）、
上の階には声のデカい独身中年のヤンキーが住んでいます。
６３年前の報復なのでしょうか。毎年クリスマスになると
連合軍製の七面鳥を食べさせられるという、拷問に等しい
苦行が待っています（笑）
