“Ājñãta Kãņņdinya was the first Buddha’s disciple.”
‘Siddhãrtha was born’
Buddha’s real name was Gautama Siddhãrtha.
In BC463, he was born in Shakya people’s land named Kapilavastu where was near the border between India and Nepal as a legitimate child between King Suddhodana and Queen Mãyã. Kapilavastu was a little more large area than Hukuoka prefecture and was extremely fertile land in addition to fresh greenery. King Suddhodana asked eight persons of fortune-teller to divine his child’s fortune. One of them was Kãņņdinya. At that time he was sixteen years old.
King asked him.
‘Can he grow up?’
Kãņņdinya said.
‘Your baby will grow up well and be to attain enlightenment.’
At that time, Kapilavastu was well known to the land where called a birthplace of Kapila legendary wizard, and Brahmanism had been national religion. At that period, they had been believed that the man who attain enlightenment will come out into this world and will rescue people. Kãņņdinya’s words was based on up to religious expectation at that period.
