According to a Japanese media report (讀賣新聞), name of sendor is 劉燿徳. Still, this type of threatening rather reminds me 日本右翼分子 since the method such as enclosing a blade is one of their typical ways. Anyway, I must not suspect anything unless it is confirmed. Let's wait and see what our honourable Hong Kong Police Force will find (see today's article below).

I know how you respect peaceful(和平的), rational(理性的) and lawful (合法的) way through my own experience. I hope other Japanese feel the same as me.

Police to probe death-threat letter

The Japanese consulate has asked Hong Kong police for help in investigating an allegation by a top Japanese cabinet member that he received a threatening letter from someone in the city.

Police yesterday said they were "very concerned" about the case, but would not confirm whether they had obtained the letter.

"Hong Kong police have received notification and a request for assistance from the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong," a police statement said. "Hong Kong is a place of law and order and we will not tolerate any person using intimidatory tactics."

The statement said such a crime could lead to a maximum penalty of five years' jail.

The Organised Crime and Triad Bureau has taken over the case, a police source said.

On Thursday, Shinzo Abe, Japan's chief cabinet secretary and potentially its next prime minister, claimed he had received a letter from Hong Kong that threatened him with death if he continued visiting the Yasukuni Shrine honouring Japan's war dead. A blade was enclosed with the letter.

The incident comes at a sensitive time, with members of various groups yesterday rallying outside the consulate's office in Central to mark the 69th anniversary of the day Japan invaded China.

The groups included the Federation of Trade Unions, Action Committee for Defending the Diaoyu Islands, the Chinese Alliance for Commemoration of the Sino-Japanese War Victims, and the China Youth Service and Recreation Centre.

They condemned Japanese authorities for misrepresenting the invasion in history textbooks and for breaching Chinese sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.

David Ko Wah-bing, a Diaoyu Islands activist, said the Hong Kong police should find out the truth about Mr Abe's claim to protect the city's reputation as a place for rational protest. "If the claim is not true, Beijing should seriously protest against it," he said.
