箴言３０章

ヤケの子アグルの言葉、重荷。その人はイシエルに、イシエルとウカルに言った。
2 確かに私は人に似ず、獣のようであり、人のような悟りをもっていない。
3 私は知恵を学ばず、聖なる者の知識を得ようとしなかった。
4 誰が天に上り、また下ってきたか。
誰がそのこぶしの中に風を集めたか。誰がその衣で水を縛ったのか。
誰が地の果てをことごとく定めたか。
その名は何か。その子の名は何か。
もし、あなたが知っているならば、教えてください！
5 神の言葉はことごとく試され、神に帰依する者の盾となる。
6 あなたは神の言葉に付け加えてはならない。
神があなたを責めて、あなたが偽り者であることを見破られないように！
7 私は二つのことをあなたに願った。私の死ぬ前にそれを否定してはならない。
8 私から偽りと嘘を遠ざけ、貧乏も富も与えないでください！
私に割り当てられたパンで私を養ってください！
9 私が満腹して、否定し、『主は誰か』と言うことのないように１
あるいは私が貧しくなって、盗み、私の神の名を汚さないように！
10 彼があなたを呪って、あなたが有罪とならないように！
僕をその主人に中傷してはならない。
11 世には、その父を呪い、その母を祝福しない者がいる。
12 自分の目には清くても、その不潔から洗われない世代がある。
13 彼らの目はすごく高く、彼らのまぶたは高く上げられる世代がある。
14 彼らの歯は剣のようであり、その大歯は刃物のような世代がある。
貧しい者を地の上から、乏しい者を人の中から食い尽くす。
15 馬丁には二人の娘がいる。「与えよ！与えよ！」
決して満足しないものが三つある。いや、四つある。『もうよい』と言わないものがある。
16 墓と、不妊の胎と、水に満足しない地と、『もうよい』といわない火がある。
17 その父をあざけり、その母に従うことを軽んじる目。
谷のからすがこれを摘み取り、若いはげますがこれを食べる。
18 私にとって、余りにすばらしい事が三つあり、いや、四つあって、私は知らない。
19 空を飛ぶ鷲の道、岩の上にいる蛇の道。
海の中の舟の道、若い女を連れた男の道である。
20 姦淫する女の道も同様である。
彼女は食べて、口をぬぐって言う。『私は悪をしなかった』と。
21 地は三つの事のために震い、四つの事のために耐えることができない。
22 僕は治まる時、チャールも食物に満たされる時、そのために震える。
23 憎むべき女が結婚する時、妾の跡を継ぐ召使のために。
24 地上に小さいが、非常に知恵のあるものが四つある。
25 蟻は強くない民であるが、夏に食物を供給する。
26 岩穴を掘る者は弱い民であるが、岩穴にその家を建てる。
27 いなごには王がないが、すべて群れをなして出て行く。
28 蜘蛛はあなたが手で捕えることができるが、王の宮にいる。
29 行軍の堂々たるものが三つあり、いや、行く末の堂々たるものが四つある。
30 獅子、これは獣のうちで最も強く、いかなるものにも背を向けない。
31 灰色の猟犬、雌やぎ、および、王はこれに逆らって立ち上がることができない。
32 もし、あなたが愚かにも自分を高く上げ、また、策謀をめぐらすのならば、手をあなたの口に当てよ！
33 乳をかき回すと、凝乳が生じ、鼻をかみ砕くと、血が出る。
怒りの押しつけは争いを生む。

2 確かに、私は人間の中で最も愚かで、私には人間の悟りがない。
3 私はまだ知恵も学ばず、聖なる方の知識も知らない。
4 誰が天に上り、また降りて来ただろうか。誰が風をたなごころに集めただろうか。誰が水を衣のうち包んだだろうか。誰が地のすべての限界を堅く定めただろうか。その名は何か、その子の名は何か。あなたは確かに知っている。
5 神のことばは、すべて純粋。神は拠り頼む者の盾。
6 神のことばにつけ足しをしてはならない。神が、あなたを責めないように、あなたがまやかし者とされないように。
7 二つのことをあなたにお願いします。私が死なないうちに、それをかなえてください。
8 不真実と偽りとを私から遠ざけてください。貧しさも富も私に与えず、ただ、私に定められた分の食物で私を養ってください。
9 私が食べ飽きて、あなたを否み、「主とは誰だ」と言わないために。また、私が貧しくて、盗みをし、私の神の御名を汚すことのないために。
10 僕のことを、その主人に中傷してはならない。そうでないと、彼はあなたをのろい、あなたは罰せられる。
11 自分の父をのろい、自分の母を祝福しない世代。
12 自分をきよいと見、汚れを洗わない世代。
13 なんとも、その目が高く、まぶたが上がっている世代。

21 この地は三つのことによって震える。いや、四つのことによって耐えられない。
22 奴隷が王となり、しれ者がパンに飽き、
23 きらわれた女が夫を得、女奴隷が女主人の代わりとなることによって。
24 この地上には小さいものが四つある。しかし、それは知恵者中の知恵者だ。
25 蟻は力のない種族だが、夏のうちに食糧を確保する。
26 岩だぬきは強くない種族だが、その巣を岩間に設ける。
27 いなごには王はないが、みな隊を組んで出て行く。
28 やもりは手でつかまえることができるが、王の宮殿にいる。
29 歩きぶりの堂々としているものが三つある。いや、その歩みの堂々としているものが四つある。
30 獣のうちで最も強く、何ものからも退かない雄獅子、
31 いばって歩くおんどりと、雄やぎ、軍隊を率いる王である。
32 もし、あなたが高ぶって、愚かなことをしたり、たくらんだりしたら、手に口を当てよ。
33 乳をかき回すと凝乳ができる。鼻をねじると血が出る。怒りをかき回すと争いが起こる。

The words of Agur the son of Jakeh; the burden. The man saith unto Ithiel, unto Ithiel and Ucal:
2 Surely I am brutish, unlike a man, and have not the understanding of a man;
3 And I have not learned wisdom, that I should have the knowledge of the Holy One.
4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? 
Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in his garment? 
Who hath established all the ends of the earth? 
What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou knowest?
5 Every word of God is tried; He is a shield unto them that take refuge in Him.
6 Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. 
7 Two things have I asked of Thee; deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me falsehood and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; 
feed me with mine allotted bread;
9 Lest I be full, and deny, and say: 'Who is the LORD?' 
Or lest I be poor, and steal, and profane the name of my God. 
10 Slander not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
11 There is a generation that curse their father, and do not bless their mother.
12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.
13 There is a generation, Oh how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
14 There is a generation whose teeth are as swords, and their great teeth as knives, 
to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
15 The horseleech hath two daughters: 'Give, give.' 
There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four that say not: 'Enough':
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not satisfied with water; and the fire that saith not: 'Enough.'
17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, 
the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young vultures shall eat it. 
18 There are three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; 
the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a young woman.
20 So is the way of an adulterous woman; 
she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith: 'I have done no wickedness.' 
21 For three things the earth doth quake, and for four it cannot endure:
22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a churl when he is filled with food;
23 For an odious woman when she is married; and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress. 
24 There are four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they provide their food in the summer;
26 The rock-badgers are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the crags;
27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
28 The spider thou canst take with the hands, yet is she in kings' palaces. 
29 There are three things which are stately in their march, yea, four which are stately in going:
30 The lion, which is mightiest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
31 The greyhound; the he-goat also; and the king, against whom there is no rising up.
32 If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast planned devices, lay thy hand upon thy mouth.
33 For the churning of milk bringeth forth curd, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood; 
so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
