伝道者の書３章

すべての物事には時期があり、天の下のすべての目的には時期がある。

2 生まれるべき時と、死ぬべき時がある。
植えるべき時と、植えられたものを抜き取るべき時がある。
3 殺すべき時、癒すべき時。
壊すべき時と、建て上げるべき時がある。
4 泣くべき時、笑うべき時。
嘆くべき時と、踊るべき時がある。
5 石を投げ捨てる時、石を集める時。
抱きしめるべき時、抱きしめないべき時。
6 求めるべき時、失うべき時。
保つべき時と、捨てるべき時がある。
7 裂くべき時、縫うべき時。
沈黙する時と、語る時がある。
8 愛するべき時、憎むべき時。
戦争の時、平和の時。

9 労働する者は、その労働のために、なんの益を得るであろうか。
10 私は神が人の子孫達に与え、その働かせた仕事を見た。
11 神はすべてのものをその時に美しくされ、また、世界をその心に置かれたが、人は神が初めから終わりまで行われた業を見いだすことができない。
12 私は彼らにとって、生きている限り、喜ぶこと、喜びを得ることにまさるものはないことを知っている。
13 しかし、すべての人が食べ、飲み、そのすべての労苦のために喜びを味わうことも、神の賜物である。
14 私は神がなさることは、ことごとく永久に続くことを知り、これに付け加えることも、またこれを取り去ることもできない。
15 あるものは久しくあり、また、あるものはすでにあり、神は追い求められるものを探される。
16 私はまた太陽の下で、正義の所に、悪があり、正義の所に、悪があるのを見た。
17 私は心の中で言った。
「正しい者も、悪い者も、神は裁かれる。そこにはすべての目的とすべての業に時があるからだ。」
18 私は心の中で言いました。
「それは人の子孫達のためであって、神が彼らをふるいにかけ、彼ら自身が獣のように過ぎないことを悟らせるためである。」
19 人の子孫達を苦しめるものは、獣をも苦しめ、一方が死ぬように、他方も死ぬ。いや、それらはみな一つの息である。
だから、人は獣にまさって優ることがない。すべては虚しいのだ。
20 すべて一つの所に行き、みな塵の者であり、みな塵に帰する。
21 人の霊が上へ行くのか、また、獣の霊が下へ地へ行くのか、誰が知ることができようか。
22 それゆえ、私は人がそのわざを喜ぶこと以上に、すぐれたことはないと思った。

5 石を投げ捨てるのに時があり、石を集めるのに時がある。抱擁するのに時があり、抱擁をやめるのに時がある。
6 捜すのに時があり、失うのに時がある。保つのに時があり、投げ捨てるのに時がある。
7 引き裂くのに時があり、縫い合わせるのに時がある。黙っているのに時があり、話をするのに時がある。
8 愛するのに時があり、憎むのに時がある。戦うのに時があり、和睦するのに時がある。
9 働く者は労苦して何の益を得よう。
10 私は神が人の子孫達に与えて労苦させる仕事を見た。
11 神のなさることは、すべて時にかなって美しい。神はまた、人の心に永遠を与えられた。しかし人は、神が行われるみわざを、初めから終わりまで見きわめることができない。
12 私は知った。人は生きている間に喜び楽しむほか何も良いことがないのを。
13 また、人がみな、食べたり飲んだりし、すべての労苦の中にしあわせを見いだすこともまた神の賜物であることを。
14 私は知った。神のなさることはみな永遠に変わらないことを。それに何かを加えることも、それから何かを取り去ることもできない。神がこのことをされたのだ。人は神を恐れなければならない。
15 今あることは、すでにあったこと。これからあることも、すでにあったこと。神は、すでに追い求められたことをこれからも捜し求められる。
16 さらに私は日の下で、さばきの場に不正があり、正義の場に不正があるのを見た。
17 私は心の中で言いました。「神は正しい人も悪者もさばく。そこでは、すべての営みと、すべてのわざには、時があるからだ。」
18 私は心の中で人の子孫達について言いました。「神は彼らを試み、彼らが獣にすぎないことを、彼らが気づくようにされたのだ。」
19 人の子の結末と獣の結末とは同じ結末だ。これも死ねば、あれも死ぬ。両方とも同じ息を持っている。人は何も獣にまさっていない。すべてはむなしいからだ。
20 みな同じ所に行く。すべてのものはちりから出て、すべてのものはちりに帰る。
21 誰が知っているだろうか。人の子孫達の霊は上に上り、獣の霊は地の下に降りて行くのを。
22 私は見た。人は、自分の仕事を楽しむよりほかに、何も良いことがないことを。それが人の受ける分であるからだ。誰が、これから後に起こることを人に見せてくれるだろう。

伝道者の書３章１２，１３節

人々が生きている間に、喜び、善いことをすること以上に、人々にとって良いことはないことを私は知りました。
そしてまた、すべての人が食べて、飲んで、すべての彼の働きの中の良いものを楽しむこと、それが神からの贈り物です。

そしてまた、すべての人が食べて｛カル態未完了形｝、飲んで｛カル態完了形｝、すべての彼の働きの中の良いものを楽しむこと｛カル態完了形｝、それが神｛複数｝からの贈り物｛賜物｝です。

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 
2 A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up; 
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; 
a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 
5  A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; 
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 
6  A time to seek, and a time to lose; 
a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; 
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; 
a time for war, and a time for peace. 
9  What profit hath he that worketh in that he laboureth?
10 I have seen the task which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in its time; also He hath set the world in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.
12 I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to get pleasure so long as they live.
13 But also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy pleasure for all his labour, is the gift of God.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it; and God hath so made it, that men should fear before Him.
15 That which is hath been long ago, and that which is to be hath already been; and God seeketh that which is pursued.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.
17 I said in my heart: 'The righteous and the wicked God will judge; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.'
18 I said in my heart: 'It is because of the sons of men, that God may sift them, and that they may see that they themselves are but as beasts.'
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them; as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that man hath no pre-eminence above a beast; for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all return to dust.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man whether it goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast whether it goeth downward to the earth?
22 Wherefore I perceived that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion; for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
