創世記２８章

イサクはヤコブを呼び、彼を祝福し、彼に命じて言いました。
「あなたはカナンの娘達の妻をめとってはならない。
2 起きて、パダンアラムに行き、あなたの母の父ベツエルの家に行き、そこからあなたの母の兄弟ラバンの娘達のうちから、あなたに妻をめとりなさい！
3 全能の神はあなたを祝福し、あなたを実らせ、あなたを増やし、あなたは民の集まりとなるであろう。
4 また、あなたとあなたの子孫にアブラハムの祝福を与え、神がアブラハムに与えたあなたの寄留の地を、あなたが受け継ぐようにされるであろう。」
5 そこで、イサクはヤコブを追い払い、アラメ人ベツエルの子であるラバンのもとに行ったが、これはヤコブとエサウの母リベカの兄弟でした。
6 さて、エサウは、イサクがヤコブを祝福してパダンアラムに送り、そこから妻をめとることを知り、また、彼を祝福して、「あなたはカナンの娘達の妻をめとるなかれ！」という命令を与えたことを見ていました。
7 ヤコブは父と母に聞き従ってパダンアラムに行きました。
8 そこで、エサウはカナンの娘達が父イサクを喜ばせていないことを知りました。
9 そこで、エサウはイシマエルのもとに行き、その妻としてイシマエル・アブラハムの子、ネバイオテの妹の娘マハラテをめとりました。
10 ヤコブはベアシェバを出て、ハランの方に行きました。
11 彼はその所を照らし、日が暮れたので、一晩中そこにとどまり、その所の石の一つを取って、頭の下に置き、その所に横たわって寝ました。
12 彼は夢を見ました。地の上に梯子が立てられていて、その頂が天に達しているのを見ました。また、神の御使い達がその上を上り下りするのを見ました。また、梯子の上に梯子が立てられ、その頂が天に達しているのを見ました。また、神の御使い達がその上に上り、また下りするのを見ました。
13 見よ！主は彼のそばに立って言われました。
「わたしは主、あなたの父アブラハムの神、また、イサクの神である。あなたが横たわる地、わたしはそこをあなたとあなたの子孫に与える。
14 あなたの子孫は地の塵のようになり、あなたは西に、東に、北に、南に広く広がるであろう。そして、あなたとあなたの子孫において、地のすべての家族は祝福されるであろう。
15 見よ！わたしはあなたと共にいて、あなたの行く所をことごとく守り、あなたをこの地に連れ戻す。わたしはあなたに話したことを成し遂げるまで、あなたを離れない。」
16 ヤコブは眠りから覚めて言いました。
「確かに主はこの地におられるのに、わたしはそれを知らなかった。」
17 彼は恐れて言いました。
「この場所はなんと畏れに満ちていることか！ここは神の家にほかならない。これは天の門である。」
18 ヤコブは朝早く起きて、自分の頭の下に置いていた石を取り、それを柱に立て、その上に油を注ぎました。
19 彼はその所の名をベトエルと呼んだが、その町の名は初めルツと言っていました。
20 ヤコブは誓って言いました。
「もし、神がわたしと共にいて、私の行くこの道を守り、食べるパンと着る衣を与えてくださるなら、私は自分の家に帰ることができます。
21 私が父の家に安らかに帰ることができるならば、主は私の神となられます。
22 私が柱として立てたこの石は神の家となり、あなたが私にくださるすべてのもののうち、十分の一を必ずあなたにさしあげます。」

1 イサクはヤコブを呼び寄せ、彼を祝福し、そして彼に命じて言いました。「カナンの娘達の中から妻をめとってはならない。
2 さあ、立って、パダン・アラムの、おまえの母の父ベトエルの家に行き、そこで母の兄ラバンの娘達の中から妻をめとりなさい。
3 全能の神がおまえを祝福し、多くの子どもを与え、おまえをふえさせてくださるように。そして、おまえが多くの民のつどいとなるように。

7 またヤコブが、父と母の言うことに聞き従ってパダン・アラムへ行ったことに気づいた。
8 エサウはまた、カナンの娘達が父イサクの気に入らないのに気づいた。
9 それでエサウはイシュマエルのところに行き、今ある妻達のほかに、アブラハムの子イシュマエルの娘で、ネバヨテの妹マハラテを妻としてめとった。
10 ヤコブはベエル・シェバを立って、ハランへと旅立った。
11 ある所に着いたとき、ちょうど日が沈んだので、そこで一夜を明かすことにした。彼はその所の石の一つを取り、それを枕にして、その場所で横になった。
12 そのうちに、彼は夢を見た。見よ。一つのはしごが地に向けて立てられている。その頂は天に届き、見よ、神の使い達が、そのはしごを上り下りしている。

14 あなたの子孫は地のちりのように多くなり、あなたは、西、東、北、南へと広がり、地上のすべての民族は、あなたとあなたの子孫によって祝福される。
15 見よ。わたしはあなたとともにあり、あなたがどこへ行っても、あなたを守り、あなたをこの地に連れ戻そう。わたしは、あなたに約束したことを成し遂げるまで、決してあなたを捨てない。
16 ヤコブは眠りからさめて、「まことに主がこの所におられるのに、私はそれを知らなかった」と言いました。
17 彼は恐れおののいて、また言いました。「この場所は、なんとおそれおおいことだろう。こここそ神の家にほかならない。ここは天の門だ。」
18 翌朝早く、ヤコブは自分が枕にした石を取り、それを石の柱として立て、その上に油をそそいだ。
19 そして、その場所の名をベテルと呼んだ。しかし、その町の名は、以前はルズであった。
20 それからヤコブは請願を立てて言いました。「神が私とともにおられ、私が行くこの旅路を守り、食べるパンと着る着物を賜り、
21 無事に父の家に帰らせてくださり、こうして主が私の神となられるなら、
22 石の柱として立てたこの石は神の家となり、すべてあなたが私に賜る十分の一を必ずささげます。」

And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him: 'Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
2 Arise, go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a congregation of peoples;
4 and give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land of thy sojournings, which God gave unto Abraham.'
5 And Isaac sent away Jacob; and he went to Paddan-aram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
6 Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying: 'Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan';
7 and that Jacob hearkened to his father and his mother, and was gone to Paddan-aram;
8 and Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;
9 so Esau went unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives that he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife.
10 And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon the place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood beside him, and said: 'I am the LORD, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac. The land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. And in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee back into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.'
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said: 'Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.'
17 And he was afraid, and said: 'How full of awe is this place! this is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.'
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
19 And he called the name of that place Beth-el, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying: 'If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 so that I come back to my father's house in peace, then shall the LORD be my God,
22 and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that Thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto Thee.'
