箴言２５章 翻訳途中

箴言２５章

これらはまたソロモンの箴言であって、ユダの王ヒゼキヤの人々が写しとったものである。
2 事を隠すことは神の栄光であり、王の栄光は事を捜し出すことである。
3 高きには天があり、深きには地があり、王達の心は捜せないものである。
4 銀からかすを取り去れば、精錬者のための器が出る。
5 王の前から悪者を取り去れば、その王座は義のうちに確立される。
6 王の前で自分をほめてはならない。また、大いなる者の所に立ってはならない。
7 あなたの目が見た王子の前で、低くされるよりは、あなたに「ここに上って来なさい！」と言われるほうがよい。
8 あなたは急いで争ってはならない！
あなたの隣人があなたをはずかしめる時、あなたはその末に何をすべきかを知らないからである。
9 あなたの隣人と共に、あなたの訴えを論じなさい！
しかし、他人の秘密を明かしてはならない。
10 これを聞く者があなたをののしり、あなたの悪名が遠ざからないように！
11 適切に語られた言葉は、銀にはめ込まれた金の林檎のようである。
12 金の耳輪、純金の飾りのように、賢い叱責者は従順な耳の上にある。
13 収穫の時の雪の冷たさのように、忠実な使者はその人を遣わす者のために、その主人の魂を慰めるからである。
14 雨の降らない水蒸気や風のように、偽りの賜物を誇りとする者がある。
15 長い忍耐によって、支配者は説得され、柔らかい舌は骨を砕く。
16 あなたは蜜を見つけたか。あなたのために十分な量を食べなさい！
それで満腹して、それを吐き出さないように！
17 あなたの足は、めったにあなたの隣人の家に入らないようにしなさい！
18 槌や、剣や、鋭い矢のように、隣人に対して偽証をする者もまた同じである。
19 困難の時に不忠実な人を信じることは、折れた歯や、関節の外れた足のようだ。
20 寒い時に衣を脱ぐ者、硝石の上の酢のように、重い心で歌を歌う者も同じである。
21 あなたの敵が飢えているなら、彼にパンを食べさせ、彼が渇いているなら、彼に水を飲ませなさい！
22 あなたはその頭の上に火の炭を盛るであろう。
23 北風は雨をもたらし、陰険な舌は怒った表情を見せる。
24 争う女と共同の家に住むよりも、屋上の片隅に住む方がよい。
25 気の弱った魂に冷たい水が与えられるように、遠い国からの良い知らせもそうである。
26 悩む泉、汚れた泉のように、悪者の前に道を譲る義人もある。
27 多くの蜜を食べることは良くない。人が自分の栄光を求めることは、栄光ではない。
28 打ち壊され、城壁のない町のように、その霊が抑制されない者は、そのような者である。

2 事を隠すのは神の誉れ。事を探るのは王の誉れ。
3 天が高く、地が深いように、王の心は測り知れない。
4 銀から、かなかすを除け。そうすれば、練られて良い器ができる。
5 王の前から悪者を除け。そうすれば、その王座は義によって堅く据えられる。
6 王の前で横柄ぶってはならない。偉い人のいる所に立ってはいてはならない。
7 高貴な人の前で下に下げられるよりは、「ここに上って来なさい」と言われるほうがよいからだ。あなたがその目で見たことを、
8 軽々しく訴えて出るな。そうでないと、あとになって、あなたの隣人があなたに恥ずかしい思いをさせたとき、あなたはどうしようとするのか。
9 あなたは隣人と争っても、他人の秘密を漏らしてはならない。
10 そうでないと、聞く者があなたを侮辱し、あなたの評判は取り返しのつかないほど悪くなる。
11 時宜にかなって語られることばは、銀の彫り物にはめられた金のりんごのようだ。
12 知恵のある叱責は、それを聞く者の耳にとって、金の耳輪、黄金の飾りのようだ。
13 忠実な使者はこれを遣わす者にとって、夏の暑い日の冷たい雪のようだ。彼は主人の心を生き返らせる。
14 贈りもしない贈り物を自慢する者は、雨を降らせない雲や風のようだ。
15 忍耐強く説けば、首領も納得する。柔らかな舌は骨を砕く。
16 蜜を見つけたら、十分、食べよ。しかし、食べすぎて吐き出すことがないように。
17 隣人の家に、足しげく通うな。彼があなたに飽きて、あなたを憎むことがないようにせよ。
18 隣人に対し、偽りの証言をする人は、こん棒、剣、また鋭い矢のようだ。
19 苦難の日に、裏切り者に拠り頼むのは、悪い歯やよろける足を頼みにするようなもの。
20 心配している人の前で歌を歌うのは、寒い日に着物を脱ぐようであり、ソーダの上に酢を注ぐようなものだ。
21 もしあなたを憎む者が飢えているなら、パンを食べさせ、渇いているなら、水
22 あなたはこうして彼の頭に、燃える炭火を積むことになり、主があなたに報いてくださる。
23 北風は大雨を起こし、陰口をきく舌は人を怒らす。
24 争い好きな女と社交場にいるよりは、屋根の片隅に住むほうがよい。
25 遠い国からの良い消息は、疲れた人への冷たい水のようだ。
26 正しい人が悪者の前に屈服するのは、きたなくされた泉、荒らされた井戸のようだ。
27 あまり多くの蜜を食べるのはよくない。しかし、りっぱなことばは尊重しなければならない。
28 自分の心を制することができない人は、城壁のない、打ちこわされた町のようだ。

2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there cometh forth a vessel for the refiner;
5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6 Glorify not thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men;
7 For better is it that it be said unto thee: 'Come up hither', than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom thine eyes have seen.
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour, but reveal not the secret of another;
10 Lest he that heareth it revile thee, and thine infamy turn not away.
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
12 As an ear-ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to him that sendeth him; for he refresheth the soul of his master. 
14 As vapours and wind without rain, so is he that boasteth himself of a false gift.
15 By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17 Let thy foot be seldom in thy neighbour's house; lest he be sated with thee, and hate thee.
18 As a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow, so is a man that beareth false witness against his neighbour.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20 As one that taketh off a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to a heavy heart. 
21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink;
22 For thou wilt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD will reward thee.
23 The north wind bringeth forth rain, and a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
24 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than in a house in common with a contentious woman.
25 As cold waters to a faint soul, so is good news from a far country.
26 As a troubled fountain, and a corrupted spring, so is a righteous man that giveth way before the wicked.
27 It is not good to eat much honey; so for men to search out their own glory is not glory.
28 Like a city broken down and without a wall, so is he whose spirit is without restraint.
