Reading is important to improve English

I’m now reading the book titled “THE NOTE BOOK” which is one of those love stories.

I’m not a big fan of love stories. However, a couple of years ago I realized that reading helps me improve my English a lot because I get to know how and when to put words between sentences appropriately through reading. Since then, I’ve picked up stories or books that are not too difficult to me and read them. I’ve watched the movie about “THE NOTE BOOK” several times and already know how the story goes. So, it shouldn’t be too difficult to guess what unfamiliar words mean when I encounter them. In another word, I wouldn’t easily give up on reading it. I hope to finish this book by Saturday.

本日、偶然この大学の卒業生と食事をすることが出来ました。

秋田にある大学で噂に聞いてましたが、実際に卒業生と話をするのは初めてでした。
公立の四年生大学でなんと授業がすべて英語で行われていて、
しかも一年の海外留学が卒業単位取得に必要だそうです。

24時間空いている図書館があったり、留学生の数も多かったりで日本ではかなり珍しい大学と言えると思います。

2004年に開学しているようですが、私は4年前くらいまで知りませんでした。

卒業生のお話を聞いているとますます魅力的に感じ「行ってみたいな～。」と感じしました。

もっとも私がこの大学の存在を高校生の時知っていても目指すだけの学力はありませんでしたし、
その時全く英語に興味が無かったので無縁だったと思いますが。

この大学に入学希望する人の数は増えているようです。
そして、この大学の行く末がとっても気になります！！

余談ですが、副学長のGregory Clark氏がコメンテーターをしている“Let's read The Nikkei Weekly”は、Podcastで毎週ダウンロードして聞いています。

とても勉強になります。
