However, a bottle from the civil world encroached on the peaceful life and stirred jealousy hate and violence. The Lion child though disabled in his childhood and mocked by others, he was carrying good characters of being friendly, caring for others and responsible, and thus he was blessed. After suffering from many difficulties and obstructions, he returned to his homeland and led people like a might king as Alexander, fought for their destiny, and greatness was unfolded during this process. Sundiata became a hero and king of all of Mali for twenty years.
Africa possessed its own prosperity and abundant period, and need no salvation from westerners. They had great kings who made self-dependence possible. There are some kings who are feared because they love justice (Niane 82). He was an outstanding leader, leading people to find peace and prosperity and happiness had come into everyone’s home. The people died, the villages vanished, but the precious spiritual wealth was passed from generation to generation, and it keeps Mali remaining the same. All these could not be given by colonist, and could not taken away either. In the film, from the superficial perspective, Xi is a comic character, and he creates laughter with his primitive and rustic mind. Having a deep thought, we would find he is a reminder and has social implications for our modern life. We are now living in a world fraught with fierce competition due to the globalization people and progressively deprived of an air of freedom and dedicating themselves to dreary commitments to mean ambitions or love of comfort. We become desperate social climbers and have devotions to material things. The person we laugh at actually live a simpler and happier life and they inherited the valuable spirits from their ancestors. The issue of who indeed needs salvation becomes ambiguous. In the film The Gods Must Be Crazy, the Africa black people are described as living in a stereotype environment and unchanged forever. The fact is opposite. They are not shut off from the outside world. In the epic Sundiata, the poor prince ran away with his mother to escape the harm from the queen. He went across many places and countries, and appealed many followers to fight for him and for the freedom of his country. It is a world full of changes, and people were united together to fight for their belief and for better life. Depicting the Africans living in unchanging world is only a one-sided thought of the racist.
In the epic, women were regarded as a very important role in daily life. How a child turned out is directly related to how much the mother respects her husband and child. Sundiata’s mother, Sogolon, the kind and modesty woman, set a good example for her child and raised her three child upright, and gave selfless love to Sundiata’s half-brother who became the right hand during his reign. She was a model wife and mother, totally different from the pride and vicious queen, Sassouma. Sogolon had a great influence on Sundiata’s characters, which helped him to be a great king in the future. In the film, women were playing less important positions in a family, and they served the whole family, and could not have much influence on other family members, and could not make decisions in a family. They were in an inferiority position. It is gender discrimination, and could not comply with the situation depicted in the old epic.
