‭Acts 20:16-24 NIV‬ [16] Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus to avoid spending time in the province of Asia, for he was in a hurry to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the day of Pentecost. [17] From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church. [18] When they arrived, he said to them: “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. [19] I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents. [20] You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. [21] I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. [22] “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. [23] I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. [24] However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

エペソ人への手紙 2:8 NIV [8] あなたがたが救われたのは、恵みによるものであり、信仰によるものです。これはあなたがた自身から出たものではなく、神からの賜物です。

使徒パウロには、救いをもたらす信仰についての使命とメッセージを伝える使命がありました。今日の使徒行伝第20章の箇所にあるパウロの言葉は、救いに関わる基本的な概念を理解するのに役立ちます。パウロはそれを「神の恵みの福音」と呼びました（24節）。

The apostle Paul had a ministry to fulfill and a message to deliver— about faith that saves. His words in today’s passage from Acts 20 help us understand the foundational concept involved in our salvation. Paul called it “the gospel of God’s grace” (v. 24).

私たちはただ神が恵み深いからこそ救われるのです。私たちは自分の罪と神の聖さの間の溝を埋めるほどの正しい行いをすることは決してできません。だからこそ、「神の律法の福音」という言葉を聞くことはないのです。「驚くべき律法、私のようなみじめな者を救ったその厳粛な音」と歌うことを想像できますか？私たちはその条件を満たすことは決してできません。特に、イエスの山上の垂訓が律法の意味を広げたことを考えればなおさらです（マタイ5:1-48、マタイ6:1-34、マタイ7:1-29）。しかし、恵みはまったく違います。恵みは私たちの価値や業績とは何の関係もなく、神の好意と愛だけに基づいています。

We’re saved simply because God is gracious. We could never do enough righteous works to bridge the gap between our sin and His holiness. That’s why you’ll never hear of “the gospel of the Law of God.” Can you imagine singing, “Amazing law, how strict the sound that saved a wretch like me”? We could never fulfill the requirements, especially when you consider how Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount expanded the law’s meaning (Matthew 5:1-48; Matthew 6:1-34; Matthew 7:1-29). But grace is totally different. It has nothing to do with our worthiness or performance but is based solely on God’s favor and love.

最も注目すべきことは、私たちの救いの道は信仰だけであるということです。神が与える恵みは神の賜物であり、私たちが行いによって付け加えられるものではありません（エペソ2:8-9）。

What’s most remarkable is that the avenue for our salvation is through faith alone. The grace God extends is His gift—not anything we can add to with our works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

神の素晴らしい計画を賛美しましょう。キリストは死をもって私たちの罪の代価を支払ってくださいました。私たちはただそれを信じるだけでよいのです。救われた後も神の恵みは流れ続けます。私たちは自分が十分ではないとか、神の恵みを失うとか心配する必要はありません。神の恵みは永遠です。

Praise God for His wonderful plan. Christ paid our sin debt with His death, and all we have to do is believe it. Even after salvation, God’s grace keeps flowing. We never have to worry that we aren’t good enough and will fall out of favor. His grace is forever.
