ヨエル書２章

シオンで角笛を吹き、わが聖なる山で警鐘を鳴らし、この地のすべての住民に震えさせよ！主の日が来るからだ。
2 闇と暗黒の日、雲と厚い暗黒の日、暗黒が山々に広がる日、大いなる民、大いなる者、このような者はかつてなく、幾世代にもわたって、これ以後もないであろう。
3 彼らの前に火は食い尽くし、彼らの後に炎は燃え上がり、地は彼らの前にエデンの園のようになり、彼らの後に荒れ野となり、いや、何人も彼らを免れることはできない。
4 彼らの姿は馬の姿のようであり、また騎兵のように、彼らは走る。
5 彼らは戦車の音のように、山の頂で跳び、刈り草を焼き尽くす火の音のように、戦列を組んだ力ある民のように、跳び回る。
6 彼らの前に民は悩み、すべての顔は黒くなった。
7 彼らは力ある者のように走り、戦いの者のように城壁を登り、それぞれ自分の道に進み、その道を絡ませることはない。
8 人は互いに突き合うことなく、みな自分の道を歩み、武器を破って、害を受けることはない。
9 彼らは町の上にとびかかり、城壁の上を走り、家々に登り、盗人のように窓から入り込む。
10 彼らの前に地は震い、天は震え、太陽と月は黒くなり、星はその輝きを失う。
11 主はその軍勢の前に声をあげられる。
その陣営は非常に大きく、その言葉を実行する者は力強い。
主の日は大きく、非常に恐ろしい。
12 しかし、主は言われる。
「今なお、あなたがたは心を尽くして、断食し、泣き、嘆きをもって、わたしのもとに立ち返りなさい！
13 あなたの心を裂き、あなたの衣を脱ぎ捨て、あなたの神、主に立ち返れ！
この方は恵み深く、慈しみ深く、寛容で、慈しみに富み、わざわいを思い直してくださるからだ。
13 あなたがたの着物ではなく、あなたがたの心を引き裂け。あなたがたの神、主に立ち返れ。主は情け深く、あわれみ深く、怒るのにおそく、恵み豊かで、わざわいを思い直してくださるからだ。
14 彼が回心して悔い改め、そのあとに祝福を残さないか、それもあなたの神である主に捧げる食事の供え物、飲物の供え物を残さないか、誰が知ることができようか。
14 主が思い直して、あわれみ、そのあとに祝福を残し、また、あなたがたの神、主への穀物のささげ物と注ぎのぶどう酒とを残してくださらないとだれが知ろう。
15 シオンで角笛を吹き鳴らし、断食を聖別し、厳粛な集会を招集せよ！
16 民を集め、会衆を聖別し、長老たちを集め、子らを集め、乳を吸う者を集めよ！
花婿はその室から出、花嫁はその館から出よ！
17 主の司である祭司達は、はしためと祭壇との間で泣き、彼らに言わせなさい！
「主よ、あなたの民を惜しまず、あなたの遺産を咎に与えないでください！
そうすれば国々は彼らを噂にするでしょう。
なぜ、彼らは国々に言うのですか。
彼らの神はどこにいるのか。」と。
17 主に仕える祭司たちは、神殿の玄関の間と祭壇との間で、泣いて言え。
「主よ。あなたの民をあわれんでください。
あなたのゆずりの地を、諸国の民のそしりとしたり、物笑いの種としたりしないでください。
国々の民の間に、『彼らの神はどこにいるのか』と言わせておいてよいのでしょうか。」
18 その時、主はその地を妬み、その民を憐れまれた。
19 主は答えてその民に言われた。
「見よ！わたしはあなたがたに穀物とぶどう酒と油を送って、それで満足させ、もはや諸国民の間であなたがたをそしらぬようにしよう。
20 しかし、わたしは北の者をあなたから遠く離し、その顔を東の海に向け、そのへりを西の海に向け、不毛で荒涼とした土地に追いやろう。
21 国よ！恐れるな！喜んで喜べ！主は大いなることをなされたのだから。
21 地よ。恐れるな。楽しみ喜べ。主が大いなることをされたからだ。
22 野の獣よ！恐れるな！
荒野の牧草は湧き、木は実を結び、いちじくの木とぶどうの木はその力を得るからだ。
23 シオンの子孫達よ！喜びなさい！あなたの神である主を喜びなさい！
主は前の雨を正しくあなたに与え、前の雨と後の雨とを、はじめにあなたのために降らせられるからである。
24 床はとうもろこしで満ち、桶はぶどう酒と油とであふれるであろう。
25 わたしはあなたがたの間に遣わしたわたしの大軍、すなわちいなごが食った年、かんくい虫、あぶく虫、やどり虫が食べた分をあなたがたに回復させる。
25 いなご、ばった、食い荒らすいなご、かみつくいなご、わたしがあなたがたの間に送った大軍勢が、食い尽くした年々を、わたしはあなたに償おう。
26 あなたがたは豊かに食べて、満ち足り、あなたがたに不思議なことをされたあなたがたの神である主の名をほめたたえるであろう。
27 あなたがたはわたしがイスラエルの中にいること、わたしがあなたがたの神である主であって、他の何者でもないことを知るであろう。

1 シオンで角笛を吹き鳴らし、わたしの聖なる山でときの声をあげよ。この地に住むすべての者は、わななけ。主の日が来るからだ。その日は近い。
2 やみと、暗黒の日。雲と、暗やみの日。山々に広がる暁の光のように数多く強い民。このようなことは昔から起こったことがなく、これから後の代々の時代にも再び起こらない。
3 彼らの前では、火が焼き尽くし、彼らのうしろでは、炎がなめ尽くす。彼らの来る前には、この国はエデンの園のようであるが、彼らの去ったあとでは、荒れ果てた荒野となる。これからのがれるものは一つもない。
4 その有様は馬のようで、軍馬のように、駆け巡る。
5 さながら戦車のきしるよう、彼らは山々の頂をとびはねる。それは刈り株を焼き尽くす火の炎の音のよう、戦いの備えをした強い民のようである。
6 その前で国々の民はもだえ苦しみ、みなの顔は青ざめる。
7 それは勇士のように走り、戦士のように城壁をよじのぼる。それぞれ自分の道を進み、進路を乱さない。
8 互いに押し合わず、めいめい自分の大路を進んで行く。投げ槍がふりかかっても、止まらない。
9 それは町を襲い、城壁の上を走り、家々によじのぼり、盗人のように窓から入り込む。
10 その面前で地は震い、天は揺れる。太陽も月も暗くなり、星もその光を失う。
11 主は、ご自身の軍勢の先頭に立って声を上げられる。その隊の数は非常に多く、主の命令を行う者は力強い。主の日は偉大で、非常に恐ろしい。だれがこの日に耐えられよう。
12 「しかし、今、—主の御告げ—心を尽くし、断食と、涙と、嘆きとをもって、わたしに立ち返れ。」
13 あなたがたの着物ではなく、あなたがたの心を引き裂け。あなたがたの神、主に立ち返れ。主は情け深く、あわれみ深く、怒るのにおそく、恵み豊かで、わざわいを思い直してくださるからだ。
14 主が思い直して、あわれみ、そのあとに祝福を残し、また、あなたがたの神、主への穀物のささげ物と注ぎのぶどう酒とを残してくださらないとだれが知ろう。
15 シオンで角笛を吹き鳴らせ。断食の布告をし、きよめの集会のふれを出せ。
16 民を集め、集会を召集せよ。老人たちを集め、幼子、乳飲み子も寄せ集めよ。花婿を寝室から、花嫁を自分の部屋から呼び出せ。
17 主に仕える祭司たちは、神殿の玄関の間と祭壇との間で、泣いて言え。「主よ。あなたの民をあわれんでください。あなたのゆずりの地を、諸国の民のそしりとしたり、物笑いの種としたりしないでください。国々の民の間に、『彼らの神はどこにいるのか』と言わせておいてよいのでしょうか。」
18 主はご自分の地をねたむほど愛し、ご自分の民をあわれまれた。
19 主は民に答えて仰せられた。「今、わたしは穀物と新しいぶどう酒と油とをあなたがたに送る。あなたがたは、それで満足する。わたしは、二度とあなたがたを、諸国の民の間でそしりとしない。
20 わたしは北から来るものを、あなたがたから遠ざけ、それを荒廃した砂漠の地へ追いやり、その前衛を東の海に、その後衛を西の海に追いやる。その悪臭が立ち上り、その腐ったにおいが立ち上る。主が大いなることをしたからだ。」
21 地よ。恐れるな。楽しみ喜べ。主が大いなることをされたからだ。
22 野の獣たちよ。恐れるな。荒野の牧草はもえ出る。木はその実をみのらせ、いちじくの木とぶどうの木とは豊かにみのる。
23 シオンの子らよ。あなたがたの神、主にあって、楽しみ喜べ。主は、あなたがたを義とするために、初めの雨を賜り、大雨を降らせ、前のように、初めの雨と後の雨とに降らせてくださるからだ。
24 打ち場は穀物で満ち、石がめは新しいぶどう酒と油であふれる。
25 いなご、ばった、食い荒らすいなご、かみつくいなご、わたしがあなたがたの間に送った大軍勢が、食い尽くした年々を、わたしはあなたに償おう。
26 あなたがたは飽きるほど食べて満足し、あなたがたに不思議なことをしてくださったあなたがたの神、主の名をほめたたえよう。わたしの民は永遠に恥を見ることはない。
27 あなたがたは、イスラエルの真ん中にわたしがいることを知り、わたしがあなたがたの神、主であり、ほかにはないこを知る。わたしの民は永遠に恥を見ることはない。
28 その後、わたしは、わたしの霊をすべての人に注ぐ。あなたがたの息子や娘は預言し、年寄りや夢を見、若い男は幻を見る。
29 その日、わたしは、しもべにも、はしためにも、わたしの霊を注ぐ。
30 わたしは天と地に、不思議なしるしを現す。血と火と煙の柱である。
31 主の大いなる恐るべき日が来る前に、太陽はやみとなり、月は血に変わる。
32 しかし、主の名を呼ぶ者はみな救われる。主が仰せられたように、シオンの山、エルサレムに、のがれる者があるからだ。その生き残った者のうちに、主が呼ばれる者がいる。

 

Blow ye the horn in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is at hand;
2 A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as blackness spread upon the mountains; a great people and a mighty, there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.
3 A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame blazeth; the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing escapeth them.
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so do they run.
5 Like the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a mighty people set in battle array.
6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces have gathered blackness.
7 They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war; and they move on every one in his ways, and they entangle not their paths.
8 Neither doth one thrust another, they march every one in his highway; and they break through the weapons, and suffer no harm.
9 They leap upon the city, they run upon the wall, they climb up into the houses; they enter in at the windows like a thief.
10 Before them the earth quaketh, the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are become black, and the stars withdraw their shining.
11 And the LORD uttereth His voice before His army; for His camp is very great, for he is mighty that executeth His word; for great is the day of the LORD and very terrible; and who can abide it?
12 Yet even now, saith the LORD, turn ye unto Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation;
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God; for He is gracious and compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, and repenteth Him of the evil.
14 Who knoweth whether He will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind Him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering unto the LORD your God? 
15 Blow the horn in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly;
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her pavilion.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say: 'Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not Thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should make them a byword: wherefore should they say among the peoples: Where is their God?'
18 Then was the LORD jealous for His land, and had pity on His people.
19 And the LORD answered and said unto His people: 'Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations;
20 But I will remove far off from you the northern one, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the eastern sea, and his hinder part toward the western sea; that his foulness may come up, and his ill savour may come up, because he hath done great things.'
21 Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for the LORD hath done great things.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength.
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God; for He giveth you the former rain in just measure, and He causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, at the first.
24 And the floors shall be full of corn, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpiller, and the palmer-worm, My great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be ashamed.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and there is none else; and My people shall never be ashamed.
