Subway will come to Myanmar

と言ってもサンドウィッチのSUBWAYではなく
地下鉄が2025年を目途にヤンゴンに完成するとの
ニュースがありました。

日本語の教科書に出てくる「地下鉄」「新幹線」という単語
ミャンマーの方々には分かりにくい言葉です。
手帳についている地下鉄の路線図を見せると皆さん驚きます。

11年後の地下鉄開通を楽しみにします。


SUBWAYどころか、マクドナルドもケンタッキーもスタバもないヤンゴン
こちらの方は2025年まで待たずとも、直にやって来るのではないかしら。
今あるのはロッテリアが2件
あとはアジアローカルのティーショップ、ドーナツショップです。


Traffic jam is a serious probllem in downtown Yangon.
According to today`s local news subway(tube) will be constructed in Yangon
by the year of 2025.

I hope sandwiche SUBWAY and Starbucks will come before that.

Union Day in Myanmar

日本では大雪がまだ融けずに残っているそうですが
ここヤンゴンは日に日に暑さが増しています。

今日はユニオンデーの祝日。
ミャンマー語では　Pyi（国） Htaung(建） Su（集） Ne（日）：ピータウンスネイ
英国統治時代に山岳民族と平地民族に分断された民族
シャン・カチン・カレン・チン・カヤー・ビルマ・ラカイン・イラワディーの８の民族の代表が
1947年2月12日シャン州のピンロンの会議で統一協定に調印した記念日。
ビルマ連邦共和国が誕生し、翌年の1月にイギリスから正式に独立しました。

酷暑の季節が始まる前の祝日は
皆さんピクニックに出かけたり、結婚式があったり
私も教会の結婚式、ガーデン披露宴にお呼ばれしてきました。


Union day is a public celebration in Myanmar
held every February 12 as a memorial to The Panglong Agreement
which pronounced full independence in internal governance
and was the sole reason on why the county achieved its centralized system of government.

History of Myanmar’s Union Day The Panglong Agreement
was signed and passed on February 12, 1947 after which on January 4, 1948,
Myanmar achieved its full independence under the British colony for more than a century.

One of its aims was to promote equality between the Burmese plain people
and the non-Burmese hills tribes in Burma.
The passing of the Panglong Agreement depicted unity from its people
and made them whole as a nation despite the racial abuse and discrimination
that they underwent from the British colony.

JETRO Japan Festival 2014 Myanmarでプリクラ初体験

2/7-10　ヤンゴンではJETRO主催のJapan Festival という展示会が開催されています。
年に1回のイベント、今年で3回目になるそうですが200以上の
日系企業がブースを出しており大盛況。

キッコーマンの試食、ダイソーの店舗、化粧品会社などには地元の方々が詰めかけ
ソニーやキャノン、パナソニックの機械ものも人気です。
友人の手伝いで、沖縄基礎化粧品「ちゅらさん」のブースを4日間手伝いますが
会場でミャンマーに初お目見えのプリクラを試させていただきました。

実はプリクラを撮ったのは生まれて初めて。
日本でも中国でもアメリカでも、頑なに拒否し続けてきましたが....

ミャンマーの相棒、チェリー（41歳）たっての希望でしたので。
普段は厳格なママ＆ビジネスウーマンの彼女が、
高校生のようにはしゃぎなが、機械操作をしていたのは
プリクラの魔法でしょうか


物価は日本の10分の一程度のヤンゴンで、一回5000チャット、約500円は
ちょっとお高いのかもしれませんが、
チェリーのように夢中になっていくヤンゴンニーが増えることでしょう。

プリクラにお招きいただいた会社、JEP社中嶋さん・守さん
北九州出身の社長さんたち。
学生時代の同級生で、ミャンマーでの起業をなさったとか。
ダンディーなお二人にに感謝の一日でした。

The picture is my next door friend, Cherry Nu Nu who can speak 5 languages
at my kitchen help cooking for the party.
She now is opening a new salon here in Myanmar and exhibit in Japan Expo.
I am helping her in booth.

Today we took Printing Club or Prikura, a photo decolation shot by machine
which is exhibit in Expo, like high school girls, haha.


Attending business show is so exciting with taking photos and reporting.
It is also nice i could see many of my first students in Myanmar working for Japanese companies.
So-o-o-o-o hot in the building, so today we will bring electic fan in our booth.

Door lock was broken 玄関のカギが開かない!!

Hot hot sunny Sunday afternoon, I came back from Church all the way walking.
Going up to my room until 6th floor , I just looking forward to drinking cold cold…… beer.
In front of the door, I opened the lock.
Well, actually tried to open.
I could not open ……….try try again try again try try
Entrance door lock has been hard to open for this 2 month
Today finally I could not get into a house. Oh no!!!

ここに住み始めて半年余り、家の中は故障続き
シャワーのお湯が出なくなったときには
修理が来るまで一か月以上水シャワー
水道から水が噴き出たときは
10日ぐらい水があふれっぱなしだった
常に何かが壊れている中で生活している気がします。

Next door husband kindly called repair man.
“Would you like to fix this lock or change to better quality one?”
“Off course, please change to the better lock
Otherwise I would have same problem repeating all the time”

鍵屋さん、お道具袋からドライバーとノミを取り出し
開かずのドアの鍵を取り外し
新しいドアノブセットを買いに行って付け替えてくれました。
でも…..
こんな簡単な道具で壊すことのできる鍵って
空き巣に入ろうと思えば簡単なんですね。
どの家にもあるドアの外の鉄扉にも納得
我が家でも錠をしなければいけないかなあ

熱い中、ワンブロック先の鍵屋さんまで出向いって下さった
お隣のご主人に深く感謝です。

ヤンゴン市内バス Public Bus in Yangon

It is getting hot in Yangon.
I am afraid dry season ending and hot hot summer is around the corner.
In this dry season, i am enjoying walking in the town and moving by by public bus
which is small adventure for me.

近頃バスで移動しています。
タクシーだと値段交渉制でオフィスへは2000チャット（10チャットが約1円）
空港までだと、7000チャットぐらい
外国人だと割高に請求されることもあるし
頑張って値切ることもあります。

バスならどこまで乗っても200チャット。
たった20円で市内移動ができます。
車体はほとんどが日本の中古バスですが
但し行き先表示はミャンマー文字なので読めません。


車内表示も広告も日本語のまま


車掌さんがバス停ごとに大声で行き先をアナウンス
乗客に知らせているけれど、これまた早口で聞き取れず
自分の行き先を車掌さんに告げ　OK,とか　ダメ　とか教えてもらったり
バス停で待つほかのお客さんに尋ねたり。

ほとんど子どもの「はじめてのおつかい」レベルですが
渋滞で退屈していたタクシーに比べると、
冒険気分で移動を楽しんでいます。

MOTTAI NAI もったいない

2005年、ケニアのワンガリ・マータイさん(環境部門で初のノーベリスト)が
世界に向けてMOTTAINI運動を展開したのは2005年でした。
もったいない（勿体無い）とは
物の本来あるべき姿がなくなるのを惜しみ、
嘆く気持ちを表す、仏教用語から来ているそうですが
ミャンマーでは人々の生活にもったいないの精神が根付いている気がします。

小さなことだけど、
お隣の奥さんは毎日残りのご飯をゴミとは別に分け
早朝に6階から下まで降りて、お祈りしながら鳥にあげているし
職場の女の子たちもお昼のお弁当の残りを集め
事務所の庭にいる犬の餌にしています。

街には修理屋さん達がいて、大抵のものは修理可能。
靴もカバンも機械類も徹底的に直して使います。


Mottainai (もったいない?, [mottainai]) is a Japanese term
conveying a sense of regret concerning waste.

The expression "Mottainai!" can be uttered alone as an exclamation when something useful,
such as food or time, is wasted, meaning roughly "what a waste!" or "Don't waste."
In addition to its primary sense of "wasteful",
the word is also used to mean "impious; irreverent" or "more than one deserves".

Mottainai is an old Buddhist word, which has ties "with the Shinto idea
that objects have souls."

At a session of the United Nations, in 2005
Kenyan environmentalist, Vice-Minister of the Environment and Nobel Peace Prize recipient
Wangari Maathai introduced the word mottainai as a slogan for environmental protection.

急激に近代化するヤンゴン。
生活は目に見えて便利になってくるけれど
プラスティック製品だらけの
使い捨て社会には向かって欲しくないと願いつつ

水道工事 Water Plumber in Yangon

暮れにキッチンの蛇口が壊れた。
詳細に記せば、接合部分が裂けて水が噴き出す状態に。
個別の水道栓はなく、家全体の水道元栓を閉めて対応。

水道を使う時はビニール袋で洪水を防御して凌ぎ続け

直ぐに水道工事屋さんを呼んでもらったが、約束の日には誰も来ない。
別の人も頼んだけれど、待ちぼうけ。

大晦日もお正月も不自由なまま。
くれも正月も休みのないミャンマーだけど
何だか時間がかかる。

ご近所さんの助けで、再度電話をしてもらいようやく修理マン登場。
結構モダンな蛇口を総取っ替えし、工事費込みで1000円也。
お安いのはありがたいけれど、すぐに来てね、今度は。


When hot shower was broken, it took one month repair man to come.
Under warrantee, it was free.
This time, water plumb was broken.
Off course the house owner does not fix
Since new year eve, my kitchen was over flowed from water pipe.
It took ONLY 10 days repair person come since I first called.

No more housing equipment brokenness, I pray!!

私は頼まれて、お子さま連れのゲストの為に学童保育所を担当します。

イギリスの影響を強く受けたミャンマーにはコロニアルスタイルの
キリスト教教会が辻つじにあります。
1960年代の政変以前は教会で義務教育が行われ
宣教師たちが英語を教えていた関係で、年配の方々は英語が堪能です。

アジアで一番歴史の長い「セントポール大聖堂」は
朝、夕それぞれ5時にミサがあり一般の人でも参加自由。
間近に見ることができるステンドグラスは圧巻です。

鍵がかかっていなければどこの教会も立ち入り自由。
入場料金もありませんので、クリスマス近いこの時期お散歩のついでにどうぞ。

I am going to Bangkok tomorrow night though Hotel reservation has not completed
because of bad net condition here and FRC Card(with passport)which my office is applying to Myanmar immigration does not come yet. Moreover from last night i am having a fever..... Am I really able to leave Thailand all right.

uuuuum, still dreaming short vacation in Bangkok.

　

RunNat2013 Yangon(2)

全員出席の高校のマラソン大会がどうしても嫌で
クラス皆でぜ結託し、学級閉鎖を仕組んだほど、長距離走は苦手です。
一瞬でアドレナリンが吹き出るようなスポーツの方が合っているのでしょうか。
何事も我慢強くこつこつ持続することが苦手です。

今回は全市的な教会のイベントということで、
唯一の外国人として夜明け前のランにエントリーしましたが
地理不案内かつミャンマー語が分からないので、
スタート地点に一人では行くことが出来ず
やもなくダウンタウンのゴール直前を昼日中に完走（完歩）しました。

RunNat 2013 in Yangon.

during the full moon festival in October, MCC, Myanmar Council of Churches hold running event
Around Yangon district.



The church in downtown door was opened 4:00am

Praying for the nation:society,education,economy,government,family,media and church.

I made 3km running and walking with our salvation church youth members
From 9:30am-10:30am in hot hot sunny sunny Saturday too.


Here comes an email from the coordinator from which I need to think deeply
as one of foreign residences living in Yangon

外国人としてヤンゴンに暮らし始め4が月目に入りました。

夜730ー8：30のみ開く町内の役所への住民登録に週に一度行かなければならず
外国人がダウンタウンエリアの外側にある地域の孤児院を訪問する際は
被訪問者が事前に届け出を出さなければならなかったり
外国人客はホテル以外の場所では宿泊できなかっり

ちょっと勝手が違うことに、まま遭遇します。

外国人の多い高級コンドとは違い
ダウンタウン下町では、人々も外国人が地域で暮らすことに不慣れ
ご近所のお世話になりながら、一つずつ手続きをクリアしてきました。

教会のイベントでも宣教師を除いては、大抵only one gaikokujin です。

以下は表記イベントの主催者から頂いたメール。
いろいろな壁が未だ未だ存在するヤンゴンの若い指導者が
外国人を観察する視点を垣間見たような気がし、考えさせられました。
