申命記８章

申命記８章１節
今日、わたしがあなたに命じるすべての命令は、あなたがたが生き、増え、主があなたの先祖に誓われた土地に入って所有するために、守るべきものである。
1 私が、きょう、あなたに命じるすべての命令をあなたがたは守り行われならない。そうすれば、あなたがたは生き、その数はふえ、主があなたがたの先祖たちに誓われた地を所有することができる。

申命記８章２節
2 あなたは神である主がこの四十年間、荒野であなたを導かれたすべての道を思い起こさなければならない。それは、主があなたを苦しめ、あなたを証み、あなたの心にあるものを知り、あなたが主の戒めを守るか守らないかを知るためであった。
2 あなたの神、主が、この四十年の間、荒野であなたを歩ませられた全行程を覚えていなければならない。それは、あなたを苦しめて、あなたを試み、あなたがその命令を守るかどうか、あなたの心のうちにあるものを知るためであった。

3 主はあなたを苦しめ、あなたを飢えさせ、あなたの知らないマナを食べさせたが、これはあなたの先祖も知らなかった。
4 この四十年、あなたの衣は古びず、あなたの足はむくまなかった。
5 あなたは人がその子を懲らしめるように、あなたの神、主があなたを懲らしめられることを心に思うであろう。
6 あなたはあなたの神、主の戒めを守って、その道に歩み、主を畏れなければならない。
7 あなたの神、主はあなたを良い土地、すなわち水の流れる小川、泉、深淵のある土地、谷と丘とに湧き出る土地に連れて来られるからである。
8 小麦、大麦、ぶどうの木、いちじくの木、ざくろのある地、オリーブの木と蜜のある地である。
9 あなたは乏しいことなくパンを食べ、何一つ欠けることのない地、その石は鉄、その丘からは真鍮を掘ることができる地である。
10 あなたは食べて満足し、あなたの神、主があなたに与えられた良い土地のゆえに主を祝福する。

12 あなたが食べて満足し、立派な家を建てて、そこに住んだとき
13 あなたの群れや羊が増え、あなたの銀や金が増え、あなたの持っているものがすべて増えるとき
14 その時、あなたの心は高ぶり、あなたをエジプトの地から、束縛の家から連れ出したあなたの神、主を忘れる。
15 神は蛇、火の蛇、さそりのいる大いなる荒野、水のない渇いた地をあなたを導き、火打石の岩から水を出された方である。
16 荒野であなたの先祖の知らないマナをあなたに食べさせたのは、あなたを苦しめ、またあなたを証明して、あなたの後の世に善いことをなさるためであった。
17 そしてあなたは心の中で言う、「わたしの力と、わたしの手の力とが、この富を得たのだ」。
18 しかしあなたはあなたの神、主を思い出せ。それはあなたに富を得る力を与え、あなたの先祖に誓われたその契約を、きょうのように確立するためである。
19 もしあなたがあなたの神、主を忘れて、ほかの神々のあとに歩み、彼らに仕え、彼らを拝むならば、あなたがたは必ず滅びることを、きょう、わたしは予告する。
20 主があなたがたの前に滅ぼされた国々のように、あなたがたも滅びるであろう、あなたがたの神、主の声に聞き従わないからである。

3 それで主は、あなたを苦しめ、飢えさせて、あなたも知らず、あなたの先祖たちも知らなかったマナを食べさせられた。それは、人はパンだけで生きるのではない、人は主の口から出るすべてのもので生きる、ということを、あなたにわからせるためであった。
4 この四十年の間、あなたの着物はすり切れず、あなたの足は、はれなかった。
5 あなたは、人がその子を訓練するように、あなたの神、主があなたを訓練されることを、知らなければならない。
6 あなたの神、主の命令を守って、その道に歩み、主を恐れなさい。
7 あなたの神、主が、あなたを良い地に導き入れようとしておられるからである。そこは、水の流れと泉があり、谷間と山を流れ出た深い淵のある地、
8 小麦、大麦、ぶどう、いちじく、ざくろの地、オリーブ油と蜜の地。
9 そこは、あなたが十分に食物を食べ、何一つ足りないもののない地、その地は石の鉄であり、その山々からは青銅を掘り出すことのできる地である。
10 あなたがた食べて満ち足りたとき、主が賜った良い地について、あなたの神、主をほめたたえなければならない。

12 あなたが食べて満ち足り、りっぱな家を建てて住み、
13 あなたの牛や羊の群れがふえ、金銀が増し、あなたの所有物がみな増し加わり、
14 あなたの心が高ぶり、あなたの神、主を忘れる。そういうことがないように。—主は、あなたをエジプトの地、奴隷の家から連れ出し、
15 燃える蛇やさそりのいるあの大きな恐ろしい荒野、水のない、かわききった地を通らせ、堅い岩から、あなたのために水を流れ出させ、
16 あなたの先祖たちの知らなかったマナを、荒野であなたに食べさせられた。それは、あなたを苦しめ、あなたを試み、ついには、あなたをしあわせにするためであった—
17 あなたは心のうちで、「この私の力、私の手の力が、この富を築き上げたのだ」と言わないように気をつけなさい。
18 あなたの神、主を心に据えなさい。主があなたに富を築き上げる力を与えられるのは、あなたの先祖たちに誓った契約を今日のとおりに果たされるためである。
19 あなたが万一、あなたの神、主を忘れ、ほかの神々に従い、これらに仕え、これらを拝むようなことがあれば、きょう、私はあなたがたに警告する。あなたがたは必ず滅びる。
20 主があなたがたの前で滅ぼされる国々のように、あなたがたも滅びる。あなたがたがあなたがたの神、主の御声に聞き従わないからである。

All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers.
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that He might afflict thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep His commandments, or no.
3 And He afflicted thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every thing that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
5 And thou shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
6 And thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in His ways, and to fear Him.
7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths, springing forth in valleys and hills;
8 a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey;
9 a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
10 And thou shalt eat and be satisfied, and bless the LORD thy God for the good land which He hath given thee.
11 Beware lest thou forget the LORD thy God, in not keeping His commandments, and His ordinances, and His statutes, which I command thee this day;
12 lest when thou hast eaten and art satisfied, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
13 and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
14 then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;
15 who led thee through the great and dreadful wilderness, wherein were serpents, fiery serpents, and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
16 who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that He might afflict thee, and that He might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
17 and thou say in thy heart: 'My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth.'
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day. 
19 And it shall be, if thou shalt forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I forewarn you this day that ye shall surely perish.
20 As the nations that the LORD maketh to perish before you, so shall ye perish; because ye would not hearken unto the voice of the LORD your God.
