Today's Senryu

 

Senryu is a three line Japanese poem that is structurally similar to haiku poetry.

So 17 syllables or less.

It differs from Haiku because it’s subject matter much more concerned with human nature and satiric humour.

①　People become wiser after making mistakes.

8 / 24,25 I participated in the Quaternary Society of Japan held in Choshi City.
I asked for a JR ticket that was valid for two days, so I could get off halfway.
I couldn't help paying for some of the sections twice, and got off halfway.
 There is much more to learn from failure even at this age.

Japanese →　馬鹿をみて間抜け愚かさまた重ね

ばかをみて　まぬけおろかさ　またかさね

 

②　The hot summer is gone and the autumn insects are starting to cry.

Nature is sharp. 

Japanese → 猛暑往き正直もんの虫が鳴き

もうしょゆき　しょうじきもんの　むしがなき

③　Curry-loving man suffers from back pain

　高齢化社会に至り、加齢通が加わるようになった。

Japanese→カレー通後追いかける加齢痛

かれいつう　あとおいかける　かれーつう

今日の川柳

馬鹿をみて間抜け愚かさまた重ね

ばかをみてまぬけおろかさまたかさね

People become wiser after making mistakes.

8/24,25　銚子市で開催された日本第四紀学会に参加した。

途中下車もできる二日間有効のJR乗車券を求めたが、なんと乗車券には下車前途無効と印字されている。

仕方なく一部区間を二重に支払い、途中下車をした。

 この歳になっても失敗から学ぶことがまだまだ多い。

猛暑往き正直もんの虫が鳴き

もうしょゆきしょうじきもんのむしがなき

Toda'ys Senryu

So 17 syllables or less. It differs from Haiku because it’s subject matter much more concerned with human nature and satiric humour.

The electoral commission is on the upset in the polls.

 

 

 お役所がダサイタマを逆手とり

おやくしょが　ださいたまを　さかてとり

今日は埼玉県知事選の投票日国もその動静に強い関心を持っているようだ。

ところが埼玉県知事選はどういう訳だか昔から投票率は全国最低の20％台。

これをなんとか上向かせようと選管は躍起になっている。

ちなみに選管ポスターには

「無関心はダサイタマ」と自虐的な記述が載っている。

I  wonder hibisucus hates people,

she is turnning away.

人嫌いハイビスカスがそっぽ向く

ひとぎらい　はいびすかすが　そっぽむく

まあそんなことはないだろうが・・・。

 

I set up a prop for the flower that fell in the typhoon.

伏せた花 柱の情け 野分去る

ふせたはな　はしらのなさけ　のわけさる

ほっとしているに違いない。
