大和郡山市には郡山城がある。この地の藩主は奈良や堺の商人たちを大和郡山に呼び寄せ、地租免除や商売上の特権を与え、箱本制度という自治組織を作った。It was an autonomous city like Sakai City.  In Japan, places like Sakai in Osaka Prefecture and Hakata in Fukuoka Prefecture developed significant self-governance during the Sengoku period. Particularly in the 16th century, Sakai's merchants constructed moats around the town, achieving autonomy and independence from feudal lords. This self-governing city thrived as an international trade port, earning the nickname "Venice of Japan" due to its prosperity and unique governance.
