It is a quiet place, located across the Uji River from Byodoin Temple, prominent UNESCO World-Heritage site. This is not flashy, but it's not plain either, producing a solemn atmosphere. Ujigami Shrine became recognized as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1994 together with other shrines and temples in the Kyoto area. Ujigami Shrine is the oldest extant shrine architecture in Japan.

見事な余部橋梁 鋼製トレッスル橋 難工事であり、冬季の強風もあり、保守もたいへんであった。見事な姿で人気を誇っていた。1912年大正元年、1月13日 -山陰本線、餘部鉄橋は完成。3月1日より香住 - 浜坂間開業と同時に営業運転。満州国設立の年である。慰霊碑もある。
