230. 兵庫見聞録 JR竹田駅 「天空の城 竹田城」

Takeda Castle is located at the altitude of 354 meters above sea level, in the Wadayama-town, Asogo-city, Hyogo Prefecture. It looks like it's floating in the sea of clouds. This has led this castle to be one of Japan's 100 most famous castles and a National Historic Site.

雲海が出た時の摩訶不思議な姿から「天空の城」と呼ばれ、有名になった竹田城跡。その石垣の美しさから、標高354ｍの山の山頂ではあるが「日本のマチュピチュ」とも称され、大人気であり、入場料もしっかり徴収され管理され、ライトアップまでされている。

竹田城跡は永享3（1431年）に山名宗全が築城したと考えられている古城跡である。山名宗全は応仁の乱の西軍の総大将。

山の中にぽつりとあるロケーションといい、外観といい「注文の多い料理店」を連想させる謎めいた雰囲気のレストランがある。しかし、主要国道沿いにあるため、かなり有名である。
