Okayama is known both as the sunny country and the fruit kingdom. It boasts its fancy fruits. 

Bananas are one of the most popular fruits in Japan. It has long relied on imports from places like the Philippines, where the climate is better suited to growing the fruit. 

岡山は「清水白桃」「マスカットオブアレキサンドリア」「ピオーネ」の生産量が全国1位、さらに日本一大きい「愛宕梨」の生産量も全国1位で高級なフルーツ王国である。季節になれば赤磐の桃園の防虫灯の黄色い色がとてもきれいである。赤磐郡の桃畑の黄色い電灯は通常より10倍強く、太陽光を模したもので、太陽光を嫌う蛾から守る防蛾灯である。収穫の前に蛾に果汁を吸われてしまうと、腐敗が進み出荷不可能になる。岡山はさらに「もんげーバナナ」という高級バナナの栽培をはじめた。グロスミッシェルという昔の懐かしい、甘いクリーミーなバナナを栽培している。もちろん岡山はバナナの栽培では世界最北ということになる。一本600円から800円にもなる高級バナナである。岡山ではいつかもんげーパパイヤ、もんげーパイナップル、もんげードリアンが売られるだろう。東京でも岡山のアンテナショップに行けば、時間が合えばもんげーバナナを購入できる。
