Many excellent female films call for women's self-consciousness in the form of film communication, for example, the famous American film Mona Lisa's smile which will be analyzed in the following part of this paper. About a new woman from California had open higher education? Katherine Watson, come to Wellesley college is known for its conservative feudal women's college teaching. The leading character's advanced ideas are incompatible with the school's conservative ideas, leading to many wonderful conflicts. In the end, although Catherine left Wesley, she won the spiritual victory, because she influenced the thoughts of many excellent women, awakened their female self-consciousness and spread feminism. The success of this film is that it made a great contribution to the cause of women's liberation.

The film "Mona Lisa's smile" is set in the United States in the 1950s. At that time, the women's liberation movement in the United States was in full swing, and the overall environment of the United States began to change the status of women, but most of the women's self-consciousness was still in a state of paralysis. Film's Wesley's girls' school is given priority to with female students, Wesley school education idea completely accord with the requirement of the social value of women, receiving higher education is not to train women's independent consciousness and ability of self-realization, but to finally whether can get a decent with good education experience, a happy marriage. Is one of the characters in the story, Catherine Watson came to Wesleyan school ethos graduated from the Open University of Berkeley, Catherine naturally unacceptable deformity Wesleyan school education idea, full of feminist thought Catherine, as the representative of the new age women did not succumb to Wesleyan education concept, daring to challenge old ideas, no matter what the school exert pressure, she always adhere to their own teaching philosophy, adhere to their own feminist thoughts. In the end, Katherine's persistence aroused a large number of excellent girls' self-consciousness and changed their values and life plans.

Catherine's persistence and the transformation of many advanced students moved us. They bravely faced the pressure from the school, and in a general sense, let us see the courage of every feminist in the period of women's liberation to bravely face the social pressure. Thanks to their foresight and unremitting efforts, women around the world have fully awakened their sense of self, and now they are active in all fields of society. To liberate women is to liberate half of the social productive forces and make indelible contributions to the development of human civilization.

Catherine Watson is the first soul in the film. She accepted the new thought education, is a feminist persistence, is a very self-aware new woman. Her teacher once said, "if you were my girlfriend, I wouldn't let you leave me. Catherine then offered an answer that took the female ego to the extreme, saying, "I'm not going to ask your permission." After graduation, Catherine was filled with a cavity of ambition, she wanted to spread her full mind of new ideas, and she wanted to influence more people and arouse more women's self-consciousness through herself, so that they could break away from the shackles of old ideas and see a better future just like herself. So Catherine chose the most conservative school for girls, Wesleyan. Wesleyan women's college considers it its duty to cultivate a good wife and mother for the upper class. In its etiquette class, Wesleyan women's college actually teaches students how to support their husbands to achieve their careers. Wesley has his own traditional values and teaching philosophy, and anyone who comes here has to learn to adapt and become a missionary in a patriarchal society, and Katherine is probably the first exception.

Katherine boldly abandoned the school's traditional teaching methods and philosophy, and challenged the old rules with the new ideas she accepted at Berkeley. She encourages her students to find their own strengths and to have their own ideals, not her husband's success. Catherine always treats her students in a gentle and calm way, and her moistening materials have affected the students silently, as well as the audience in front of the screen. "I don't want you to write papers," she said. "I don't want you to like it. I just want you to think." The concept conveyed by Catherine is that we should first think independently in the face of a thing, and then make choices according to our own heart. You shouldn't just listen to what others are asking of you to decide whether you like it or not, or do something meaningless and superficial. Independent thinking and choice is the first and most important step for women to awaken their self-awareness. Only by thinking independently can they truly become an independent person.

Catherine dared to help students realize their own ideas. She helped Joan, a student with excellent academic performance and her own dream, get admitted to Yale law school. Catherine was never cruel in her attack on rotten old ideas. She vehemently lesson because marriage and truancy Betty, she publicly maintenance was expelled from school for sale to protect women's contraceptive sour Amanda, she is in the classroom on vocal opposition newspaper about "a woman should return to family born housewives role, in the society of orthodoxy that promoting the so-called backward school, Catherine as a banner, not afraid of the wind rain, kept flying high, lead women to hurry and awakening in the school. In the end, Catherine got her wish. Her self-consciousness influenced a large number of excellent students and changed their ideas and destiny. One by one, these students gain their independence in soul, no longer follow the wrong guidance of public opinion, no longer willingly become subordinate to male authority, and gradually become the pursuers or even practitioners of female self-consciousness. In this process, Catherine herself has grown up again. She is more determined to guard her female self-consciousness. She dared to change her relationship status, but still refused her boyfriend's proposal, because she judged that their relationship was not enough to make a marriage. She accepted the Italian professor bill's courtship, but frankly and boldly asked bill to stop with other women; She left Wesleyan school without nostalgia because she was unwilling to submit to the control of the school over her ideological freedom. Such a Catherine, perhaps not uncommon in real life, became a wonderful fragrance in the history of the feminist struggle in the United States at that time. Her strong self-consciousness and brave challenge to authority caused a revolution. What she challenged was not only the school system, but also the backward concept of the whole society. What she wanted to change was not only herself, but also her students, and even the women who were oppressed by ideology in the whole society. She is brave and decisive, not to compromise any force, not afraid of everything, just to let themselves set their own trajectory in life.

Catherine Watson, the first to influence and shape the most successful man is one of her students - Joan BuLanDeWen. Joan herself is a very smart and active girl, but because in such a social environment, she did not establish her own female self-consciousness and had no special plan for her life. She just wanted to follow the rules of ethics and get married and have children after graduation. Jean's sense of self was at first in its infancy. She would occasionally dream of becoming a successful lawyer, but then she would deny herself that it was realistic and she had never planned her life well. Until she met Catherine, who encouraged her to follow her interests and helped her get admitted to Yale. But in the end, Joan chose to stay at home and marry her boyfriend, with the support of her teacher, Catherine. One wonders, is this not contrary to Catherine's thoughts? After all, getting married and having children is a traditional female path. But jean once said, "it was my decision not to read the law... I want a home. I want children. I know exactly what I'm doing. It's not that I'm no longer smart... That's what I want to do, that's what I want to live." It was just such a paragraph that made Catherine wish her well. Joan's choice of family was the result of her own careful thinking and leading her life as a woman. It was not blind obedience to social concepts, but the highest expression of Joan's self-awareness. Jean's case shows us that feminism is not a narrow struggle to get women out of the workplace. It is not a fight for the sake of fighting, nor is it an extreme pursuit, but a true awakening of female self-consciousness. A woman with a sense of self does not conflict with being a housewife, as long as she is driven by her heart and tries to live the life she wants to live. This is self-awareness. Female self-consciousness has never been reflected in women's social status, nor in a deliberately pursuing rebellious attitude and lifestyle. As long as women have the ability to think independently without succumbing to worldly views, it is called female self-consciousness. The result of Joan's choice was traditional, but the process was full of wisdom. Joan dared to challenge the authority of her teacher, dared to debate with her teacher, and finally won the teacher's approval. Such courage is similar to Catherine's, and it is also worth learning.

Affected by Catherine's largest student, can be said to be the most conservative once Betty warren. After being guided by Katherine's female self-consciousness, Betty completely changes her life track and finally achieves freedom and happiness. Once a defender of the Wesleyan tradition, Betty was the student most at odds with Katherine's seemingly outrageous ideas. She was the first one to get married in the school, and once played truant for marriage. She openly challenged Catherine in class, and she thought that Catherine was completely grandstanding, and she subverted her ideas to order them to disregard the tradition, which was selfish and foolish behavior. Betty, in order to fight against Catherine, once published an article in the school newspaper, accusing Catherine of violating social morality and sacred marriage, and urging women to abandon the social role they were born to assume. She caters to society's lead in encouraging women to return to the family, not only by example, but also by promoting the idea. But as the plot progresses, Betty's sense of self comes to life in the struggle between her and Catherine again and again, until at last she becomes a completely different person. She questioned the smile of Mona Lisa and challenged the traditional judgment of female beauty. She believed that although Mona Lisa was smiling, she was not necessarily happy in her heart. Many things did not match the essence and appearance, just like her seemingly happy but actually unhappy marriage. Finally, Betty boldly filed for divorce, and despite being discouraged from returning home even by her mother, she resolutely left the unhappy family and unhappy marriage. Betty's awakening and determination make us look at her with new eyes. She grows from a traditional moralist to a new-age woman who thinks for herself and decides her own destiny. Betty's self-conscious resurgence changes her life, and her shifting inconsistencies are a particularly admirable part of the film's plot.

As Catherine boldly abandoned this doesn't fit his marriage, and take the initiative to choose more suitable for their own bill as a new boyfriend, her brave spirit of the pursuit of love was also the students, Connie baker. Connie was an ordinary girl. She was not as smart and beautiful as Betty, nor as talented as Joan. She was just a shy girl who lacked confidence. She adores Betty's cousin but doesn't have the guts to tell him. And the female self-consciousness of miss Catherine infected her, when she also saw the sincerity of the boy, cast aside worldly vision and boldly walked into the boys' dormitory, confessed his love, and finally harvested sweet. Traditional thinking on the definition of women should be reserved, should quietly wait for the favor of men, but if passive and timid, is bound to lose happiness, make a big mistake. Women also have the same right to choose a mate as men. It is one of the symbols of women's independent thinking to choose a mate independently and pursue bravely. Connie baker under the influence of Catherine, successfully by a timid girl to have their own independent thought, have the courage of the new women. Connie's growth not only comforts us, but also enlightens us. Women should bravely and actively pursue what they love instead of being bound by social concepts.

The film "Mona Lisa's smile" shows us the process of these beautiful women's self-awakening and self-struggle, and let us understand the women of that era, and their efforts for self-consciousness awakening and self-life pursuit. Only when women really have equal and independent personality and truly from the heart of social pursuit, their face smile can be called the real Mona Lisa's smile the most beautiful smile. Nowadays, as an independent existence, women are active in all corners of society, fighting for their careers, running their families, and striving for their dreams. Their success and happiness are no longer dependent on anyone, but completely in their own hands. This is the proper state of a civilized society. In the world, there are many backward ideological driven self-consciousness awakening of women, we are looking forward to have a Catherine to change them, looking forward to they will have like Joan and Betty awakening of that day of, we will study the film Catherine perseverance, for that day to celebrate the liberation of women around the world and persistent efforts.

A hero in an American animated film

In the early American animated films, the hero images of animation were mainly classical heroes. Classical heroes refer to people with noble blood and extraordinary ability. They are the embodiment of human ideals. In them, we can see the spirit and noble quality of perseverance, sacrifice one's life for righteousness and courage. In the early American animated films, aristocrats with noble blood lines were the main group being shaped into heroes. Take the 1959 Disney animated film sleeping beauty, which tells the story of a prince who awakens a princess imprisoned by a spell with his true love. The prince in the film is a classic hero image created by the film. He has noble blood, perseverance and courage, is the hope to save the princess and a country, and is the only hero who can fight against the witch. The prince in the film is approachable. When he first met the princess like a country girl living in seclusion in the countryside, his noble identity did not become an obstacle for the two to love each other. He even gave up his previous engagement with the royal princess for this love. This view of love and marriage at the cost of love adds a modern touch to the heroic image of the prince. Prince went on a journey to save the princess for love, fighting the witch is the most important way for prince shows heroic, under the arrangement of the filmmakers, the prince got protect the princess of the strong support of the three fairies, get a prince from the fairy magic shield and sharp sword of truth, use them to defeat the evil witch. The film takes the love between the prince and the princess as the main line, and creates a typical hero image for the audience. He pursues true love with the spirit of adventure and self-sacrifice, and bravely breaks through numerous obstacles to pursue his own happiness. In the film, the sword of truth transforms the heroic image of the prince into a universal truth, and combines his heroic behavior with the group ideology. Such a heroic image has a kind of charisma and convincing power.

In the early American animated films, people with extraordinary abilities were also the focus of the shaping of hero images in animated films. They realized the ideals of human beings and protected the people around them with their extraordinary abilities. Such as Disney launched in 1953, another film "Peter pan", tells the story of a hero with extraordinary abilities? Peter pan with his magical mana guarded the story of a group of children don't want to grow up. In the film Peter pan's neverland an elf never grow up. He Wendy doesn't want to grow up in order to meet the little girl wishes to her and her two younger brother together to neverland, sinister captain hook to kill Peter? Pan Zhanling neverland and rule, finally Peter pan and captain hook in the form of a hero of the battle won the victory, to protect the children of the island. Peter pan is a human guardians keep their childhood dreams, his own magic ability and extraordinary wisdom protects all the children and the island of Indians. He was greatly loved by the people and was rewarded by the chief. He gave up his super power in the battle with captain hook and met the challenge of captain hook with one hand, winning the victory in a fair way. The film shows us a classic hero image with magic and noble status.

From the 1960s to the 1980s, American culture was changing, and American social culture developed from a mainstream social idea to a diversified one. Under the influence of the multi-culture conflict, the hero images in American animated films gradually turn from the original classical heroes to the humanized heroes. In American animated film, a mere mortals hero to remove the body of the divine, abandoned the past the spirit of sacrifice for others and save others, pay more attention to self-centered, maximizing personal interest and value concept, they are born, character and the motives of encouraging people to overthrow the traditional way of "tall" hero image, reflects some imperfect and the secular, presents a sense of the elite. For example, Aladdin, the hero of the film Aladdin, is a street scoundrel. He and the monkey ABU stole things everywhere and were hunted down. But there is good dream in his heart all the time, he got the divine lamp in odd cave by right of the ability that enters miracle cave magical, help king success subdue the jia fa that tries to seek authority to usurp the throne, let lamp god obtain free identity, also captured the heart of princess at the same time. The hero in the film has changed from the classical hero image with noble birth and extraordinary ability to a special title of realizing his life value through hard work. It emphasizes Aladdin's mortal identity and conveys the idea of equality that ordinary people can achieve great things through a kind heart and heroic actions.

With the development of multiculturalism in the United States, the American society began to accept the differences between different cultures and gave equal treatment to the cultures of different RACES, classes and religions. This diversified ideology is also reflected in the animated films. The mortal heroes in the American animations from the 1980s to the early 21st century also show the trend of diversification, with the emergence of diverse heroic images such as female heroes, minority heroes and humble heroes. With the development of the women's liberation movement, the status of women and men in society has achieved equality. In animated films, women have changed the image that they needed to be rescued in the past and started to replace the role of traditional male heroes, bravely pursuing happiness and saving the world. For example, the film mulan created a legendary female hero who joined the army for her father. In the legend of hua mulan, we can see the self-identity of a hero in western culture. In addition to female heroes, the American animated films of this period also featured some alternative mortal heroes, such as Tarzan in the film Tarzan and pocahontas in pocahontas. Tarzan is the story of Tarzan's rescue of the chimpanzee family. Tarzan in the film is an idealized hero who defends the interests of animals rather than human beings. In him permeated with ordinary people's self-identity and full of democratic and free spirit of choice. Pocahontas, on the other hand, features an ethnic heroine who takes action to resolve conflicts between the tribes and the colonists. Pocahontas, the heroine of the film, is a sincere, kind, brave and nature-loving girl. As the daughter of a native American chief, she saved the white captive chong mai regardless of her own life for love, and successfully defused the hatred between the native americans and the white people with the power of love. The creator transformed pocahontas into a figure who had direct contact with the gods, transformed the divine power of traditional heroes into the spiritual power of mortal heroes, and guided the hero to make the right choice.

With the rise of postmodern culture, American society has entered the era of consumption. Consumerism, economic globalization and the development of modern science and technology have made American animated films enter a transitional period in terms of values. In the 21st century, American animated films are obviously imprinted with postmodern culture, and the shaping of hero images also presents obvious postmodern characteristics such as individualism, hedonism and materialism.

Under the influence of post-modern culture, people begin to lose their heroic dimension and pursue a kind of self-centered, narcissistic and vulgar happiness. They no longer advocate the spirit of sacrifice and sacrifice for others, but care about the power contained in themselves, which leads to serious consequences such as alienation from others, separation from society and damage to public morality. Most of the American animated films in this period are the hero images of personal supremacy, including the heroes who give up their duties and the "pseudo-heroes". Paramount pictures released a 2010 animated movie called "megamut," featuring two alien babies who come to earth after their planet is swallowed by a black hole. One becomes a superhero, the city superman, and the other a supervillain. In the battle of two people in the super villain McMai defeated city superman and use the city superman DNA to create a new hero helios justice. However, this hero USES his super power to do nothing but evil. In order to prevent the evil deeds of the sun god, the super villain McMai becomes the new guardian of the city. However, as the hero in people's eyes, city superman exchanges his personal freedom with feign death and realizes the ideal of becoming "music superman".

In addition, under the influence of post-modern culture, some "pseudo-hero" images with moral defects that unexpectedly become heroes have also become the hot spots of American animated films. In drag racer, reg is a pet chameleon living in a fish tank, unsatisfied with the status quo and dreaming of becoming a great hero one day. A travel accident lets his sweet dream be broken, fell in the desert of the nowhere to be visited in the person, for survival he crosses desert hard came to a small border town of American west, began him to have the life journey of another paragraph of legend color. In order to survive in the town, he bragged that he was the legendary hero who killed countless enemies with three bullets. When the fierce eagle hit, escape from the reg but accidentally ended the eagle's life, the accident made reg realize his dream for many years, become the town people's true hero. Oscar, in "shark business," is a vain undersea unknown who dreams of becoming a famous celebrity when he is thrown into shark-infested waters by creditors for gambling debts. A coincidence has made Oscar the accidental "shark killer", with the fame, status and money he has dreamed of. Oscar relies on lies to make himself a pseudo-hero. Reggae, like Oscar, has a strong desire to be identified, and rather than feel insecure about their heroic identities, they have chosen to maintain the lies they have made and place themselves in the public's good graces. Although Oscar and regal cheat the public at the beginning, they still rationally help the public to solve the crisis when the danger comes. Their heroic actions have solved the moral defects and become the real heroes.

Basically in the traditional sense of the hero is the embodiment of kindness, justice and courage, but in the modern society, due to their own desires, too much anxiety, lack of life goals, the hero image was gradually abandoned, in animation film began to appear a lot of negative image, these roles are often inversion along with the development of the story gradually become heroes. There are also many ways to shape the anti-hero image. In the American animated films, the anti-hero image identified by the other, the anti-hero image created by his own desire and the anti-hero image repressed by his growing environment are the main three kinds of anti-hero images. The anti-hero images identified by others are often limited by objective conditions and unable to choose their own roles. They have certain passivity when doing bad things and have to appear as negative images. As in the 2012 animated film "invincible king of destruction of alpha, he is the opposite of a others recognized hero characters, such as film again the MaiKeMai super big, bad, he is also the opposite of a recognized role in the film, initially MaiKeMai also wanted to be in a group hard to become a normal person, but failure, he began to lose hope, feel now that can't be approved to become a hero, then try not to become a neglected the bad guys. McMai finally realizes the transformation from villain to hero because of the heroine's love. The anti-hero images created by their own desires are quite representative in American animated films, such as Caroline in 2009's "mother monster", igel in 2008's "frankie" and Michael and drew in "golden city". They are not heroes in themselves, but when the moral bottom line is challenged, they finally make the right choice and become heroes to save the world. The classic anti-hero who was repressed by his upbringing is despicable me, which was released by universal in 2010. It tells the story of a super villain, gru, who plans to steal the moon. The film is a typical villains as leading role animation, global is a super villain is not due to childhood mother recognition, although in order to attract the world's recognized global became a villain, but he is not kind of loss of nature, at the time of their actions may endanger others he revised in time, in the end in order to save three little girls, global transformation into a real hero.

Heroes are the embodiment of human ideals. They have obvious common human culture and unique cultural characteristics of specific historical periods. Through the theme and image of "hero", American animated films create a cultural value of mass heroes. From the perspective of the development and changes of American society, history and culture, this paper analyzes the changes of hero images in American animations in different stages of development, so that we can have a deeper understanding of the national characteristics and cultural forms of the United States.

Upheavals in China from 1911 to 1949

本篇paper代写- Upheavals in China from 1911 to 1949讨论了中国从1911年到1949年的动乱。

Since the Opium War forcibly opened China to the outside world, China went through waves of changes economically, politically and socially. Even though Qing dynasty, the last imperial ruler in China’s history, made an attempt to implement policies in order to retrieve its power and reinforce its dominance. It turned out to be in vain. If we take stock of that situation with a historical view, it is natural to conclude that what laid ahead of such dynasty only was death. It was an irresistible trend then.

The Revolution of 1911, led by Sun Yat-sen, successfully overthrew the dying Qing ruling court. Wuhan province, the center city based on which this revolution started off, brought about a host of upheavals as an origin place that predicted the further great transformation of China. This revolution, however, was a product of Sun Yat-sen’s repeated attempts and by no means went on smoothly. Sun Yat-sen, before launching the Revolution of 1911, tried to launch reforms or modernize political regime. When he was let down by stubborn feudal rulers, he awoke to that revolution must proceed through violence and military. Although his move came up against repeated obstacles and frustrations with sacrifices, the first success came in the city of Wuchang, marking the death of Qing court. On the other hand, It is well-recognized that the Revolution of 1911 actually began in 1894 when Hsing Chung Hui was founded. This means the Revolution of 1911 was not an abrupt event but the result of long-time efforts. The Revolution was consistent with the historical trend. This is because the dominance of Qing court couldn’t hold any longer, which could be seen as the biggest factor that triggered that revolutionary event that signaled an end to a corrupted, dying dynasty and at the same time ushered in a new era for China.

If the objective factor is defined as imperial corruption, the subjective factor that contributed this event must be the deep patriotism of insurgents led by Sun Yat-sen. They defied all difficulties, overcame failures and setbacks, and pushed themselves and persevered in the belief that a new political regime would bring a brighter future for China. Such determination and sacrifice is a part of the success of the revolution.

After that monumental event, China fell apart in two fragments——Warlord China and Treaty-port China. Early on, it was in the charge of warlordism. Yuan shikai, the top political leader who robbed the victory made by Sun Yat-sen, failed to boost economic growth or achieve national independence. Since then, China stumbled into an impoverished, weak stalemate where Chinese people had to shoulder the heavy tax burden in a way to ensure warlords to live a luxury life. That was rather unfair to the mass.

What came as a turning point was the year of 1919, where the society of proletariat took shape in China. That formation gradually developed as a force that was able to fight against Kuomintang. The two major forces——the Communist and Nationalist, called on by Sun Yat-sen, worked together for the task of Northern Expedition. However, the joint efforts failed to go the distance as Sun Yat-sen died in 1925 and Chiang Kai-Shek took over, who harboured great hatred and animosity toward the Communist Party.

Chiang began to take steps to crack down on the Communist Party in a way to consolidate his power. In the ten years from 1927 to 1937, there was continual battles between Nationalists and Communists, making China fall into two antagonistic parts. And the communist party was even forced by the nationalists to start out the Long March. Such domestic war came into end in 1937 when Japan launched massive invasion into China. The two parties had to cease military conflicts and work together again to fight Japanese back. And after the Anti-Japanese War, the two parties slipped into confrontations again. But the whole situation proved to be turned around.

Actually, the communists couldn’t rival the nationalists in troops and weapon as Chiang administration was supported by the USA. Time has proven, however, the communists reaped the final triumph. And the Anti-Japanese War actually acted as a turning point that changed the Chinese society a lot. Having said that, such factor is just a secondary cause, not the primary. The dominant cause for Kuomintang’s failure is the two sides’ characteristics themselves, which determined the long-term development of them.

At that time, China was a poor country that evolved from a small peasant economy. That means peasants dominated the national population then, with unpredictably huge potential for revolutions. Although the elites or bourgeois took the ruling position, they couldn’t be on a par with the proletariat in size. The Communist Party has long stayed committed to mass line as the primary principle in work. They gave play to peasants and leveraged on their strengths by ripping land from landlords and redistributing it to the poor. That policy, called as “land reform”, greatly mobilized the initiative and support from the grassroots peasants on a large scale. Therefore, the communists edged out the nationalists in the terms of people’s will.

And with that, the communists managed to go beyond their circumstances and came to power in 1949, with Mao Zedong as the President, who was a brilliant strategist. He is an influential leader to China who transformed this country and has deep affection about Chinese people, particularly the poorest ones. After the new government formally took office in 1949, Mao administration rolled out a host of policies to boost economic growth and reinforce its dominance including reconstruction and growth, Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution until President Mao died in 1976, when the Chinese nation suffered from destitute, famine and chaos.

In 1978, China’ s economic picture began to turn around thanks to economic reforms called for by Deng Xiaoping, who put market as the biggest driver for economic growth. China implemented the policy of household contract system in a bid to decollectivize rural areas. It also opened up to the outside world through exports and foreign investment and encouraged rural people to find a job or even relocate in urban areas. That move successfully reduced the number of poor people from 250 million in 1978 to 30 million in 2005. And this figure is on the decline right now.

Nowadays, China has risen up to the second largest economy in the world by virtue of the policy of reform and opening-up. Such being the case, it is beset with many challenges today like smog, social inequalities, rampant corruption and regional disparities. But all those problems come natural for they plague other fast-growing economies as well and China is not different.

With the continuous development of globalization, there has been a boom in studying abroad. Overseas students are especially important for adapting to overseas learning mode, teaching mode and life style. The role of preparatory courses for international students is evident.

With the increasing progress of science and technology, the distance between countries in the world is becoming shorter and shorter. The convenience of modern means of transportation has made exchanges between people of all countries more frequent. The process of globalization is making great strides, more and more students choose to go abroad to finish their studies. According to the Higher Education Statistics Agency, 436,585 international students studied in UK universities in the 2014-2015 academic year. The proportion of foreign students in the UK increased by nine percentage points from the previous year. More and more foreign students think that choosing to complete their study abroad, especially in the western countries with more developed education, can improve their language ability and the degree they have obtained is more valuable. If we can open more doors for their employment, the future will be more promising. Economic, cultural and political factors all indicate that the number of overseas students will continue to rise. With the increasing number of students, it is an urgent task for the development of English preparatory courses in British universities to explore the curriculum and its impact on international students.

To some extent, the Sheffield prep programme has worked. Like other universities in the UK, the university of Sheffield offers preparatory courses to international students from all over the world before they begin their formal degree studies. This preparatory course is a relatively intensive academic English training course that prepares students for the English language skills necessary for the degree. The course is a short course that lasts four, six and ten weeks, depending on the student's level of admission. Each week includes 21 hours of lectures and exercises, including academic reading, writing, listening, seminar techniques, academic research techniques, class note-taking techniques and a series of elective courses.

International students who have attended the preparatory course find it very helpful. In the whole learning process, they have enough professional guidance on academic aspects, which enables them to adapt to the learning style of British universities with ease in the future. Through classified listening, speaking, reading and writing, their language abilities in these aspects have been improved to varying degrees. After completing this course, international students have increased their confidence in successfully completing their studies in British universities.

Although the university of Sheffield preparatory course is helpful for international students, there are some parts that can be improved:

First of all, in addition to the basic English language skills in the course setting, the learning can appropriately increase the opportunities to communicate with local people in language and culture and experience the local actual language environment. In the actual language environment and in the actual communication activities, foreign students can get in touch with native speakers from all walks of life except their own language teachers. Only in this way can they really improve their academic English ability in class and develop their practical English ability.

Secondly, the teachers of preparatory courses are mostly pure language teachers. In the choice of course teachers, teachers from various majors and research fields of the university can be invited to participate in the preparatory course teaching. In the course of the course will be to learn the field of students in addition to the language of professional preparatory knowledge. And to some extent, teachers in the same research field as students are more convincing in class.

Thirdly, because international students all have the same problem, that is to leave their hometown. In the environment that oneself are not familiar with, come from the life, the pressure of study is not small, reason besides language course can set psychological coach class, psychological activity class. As Jansen, jakob and laurenson have said, "early warning of negative psychological reactions that may occur in an unfamiliar environment does not prevent these negative emotions from occurring, but it is useful for people to learn about their own psychological emotions and how to deal with them." Psychological balance, stability is the foundation of all learning.

In addition, teachers of preparatory courses have an urgent need to understand and even understand the cultural background of international students from all over the world. Teachers of preparatory courses should have a better understanding of students' long-term habit of learning and their previous education background. It also allows teachers of preparatory courses to tailor their courses to the specific situation, and better help students who go to a foreign country to adapt to the local life and study. Students can also improve themselves under the premise of being understood and successfully complete the degree study.

In the past 100 years, the UK's higher education enjoys a worldwide reputation, and more and more scholars choose to complete their academic dreams in the UK. After leaving their familiar environment, relatives, friends, scholars must be "culture shock" impact. The preparatory course, as a guiding orientation program, aims to help international students to adapt to the new environment as soon as possible before they start their undergraduate or master degree studies or even higher degree studies. Based on the theory of "culture shock", this course should be committed to providing students with two aspects of help: language skills necessary for students to complete their studies, and language skills to help students overcome and correctly deal with the negative psychology and emotions that may be caused by "culture shock". Finally, students can better adapt to the study and life in Britain.
