Among the many World Heritage Sites, Ujigami Shrine does not exude extravagant splendor or grandeur at first glance; rather, it gives the impression of a modest shrine. 

However, it is a beautiful site with a solemn atmosphere, an ancient history reflected in its structures, and an elegant presence set against the backdrop of the mountains.

It is a quiet place, located across the Uji River from Byodoin Temple, prominent UNESCO World-Heritage site. This is not flashy, but it's not plain either, producing a solemn atmosphere. Ujigami Shrine became recognized as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1994 together with other shrines and temples in the Kyoto area. Ujigami Shrine is the oldest extant shrine architecture in Japan.

別格に有名な宇治平等院での喧騒が、ここでは嘘のようになくなる。宇治上神社、ここも世界遺産である。世界遺産にしてはあまりにも静かである。神社建築としては現存最古とされ、ただならぬ雰囲気が漂っている。

I highly recommend this place for a great Japanese miso ramen. Tadokoro attracts an unceasing stream of customers. 2017年10月11日開店、以前ラーメン屋「ゆめや鳥取新店」があった場所である。ゆめやは夢と消えてしまった。

Tadokoro Shoten is a miso ramen specialty restaurant established in 2003 in Chiba City by Fumiyuki Tadokoro. Coming from a family of miso brewers, Tadokoro aimed to promote the health benefits of miso under the slogan "Miso is Japan's treasure." Despite initial financial struggles, the business expanded domestically and internationally through franchise development, spreading the appeal of miso ramen worldwide.

If you spent your youth in Tottori City, you’ve likely visited Café Beniya. It’s an ordinary café but beloved by locals, known for its cutlet curry and shaved ice. 

Established in 1948, it’s a long-standing institution. I ordered the famous chicken cutlet curry (¥800). The crispy chicken cutlet, served atop the curry, is light and delicious. Quick and tasty! The café also displays autographs of celebrities like Daisuke Miyagawa and Kendo Kobayashi.
