ホテルに向かって歩きます。

アムネスティの事務所もあります。家賃高いだろうな。

そうこうしているうちに、ようやく本日の宿にたどり着きます。

米国旗はあっても、英国旗はないことにご注目。

ホテルに入りスムーズにチェックインします。夜10時以降はお静かにというのが、この周囲の雰囲気を物語っています。 

中庭があります。

ホテルの部屋です。私が泊まるホテルにしてはかなりいいほうです。値段も安くはありません。

少し休んで英気を養い、ではまた夜の街に繰り出します。

昨日予約したアイリッシュ・ダンスの会場に行くのです。

夕暮れのリフィ川もいいですね。

外に出ます。

やはり教会というのは独特ですね。

街を歩きます。だいぶ日も落ちてきました。

ホテルに向かいます。

このようなカップルをすかさず写真に撮るのも旅の楽しみです。

このSPARにも何回か行きました。

左側の男性から、ちょっと怖い顔で睨まれました。もっともこれくらいで怖がっていたら、私の旅は成り立ちません。

映画の上映があったみたいですね。一瞬日本映画嘉元もいましたが、こちらの韓国映画ですね。

香港に2年ぶりに行くつもり

昨年10月に香港に行くつもりだったのですが、飛行機が欠航するという最悪の事態になってしまい、さらに今年1月にも今度は関空からのLCCで香港に行くつもりだったのですが、これも体調が悪く行くにいたりませんでした。これではよくありませんので、また6月に渡航するための航空券を買いました。2年前の7月以来です。LCCのバニラエアで、安い成田⇔香港のチケットが売られていたので、すかさず購入しました。クレジットカードで決裁すればもっと安いのですが、コンビニ支払にしたので、往復で計1,200円割高ですが、17,000円台で週末に成田と香港を往復できるのならとてもお得でしょう。厳密には17,410円です。

確認してみると、15年の前回の香港旅行でも、7月1日日本出発の便を3月23日に購入していて、やはり17,000円台でした。つまり安い航空券をバニラはそれくらいの価格で提供しているということでしょう。

また今回もマカオ、あるいは深センに行くつもりですし、マカオに泊まる気はありませんが、深センには何年ぶりかに泊まろうかなと思います。香港より深センのほうが宿代が安いわけです。もう1泊は、例によって重慶大廈の宿ですかね。

またマカオに行ってポルトガル料理とマカオ料理を食したいし、香港でロースト系の食事、麺、飲茶などもいただきたいわけです。ほかにも・・・なんて書いているととても2泊3日の旅では物足りませんね。あ、高級ホテルでのお茶もしなければね。

記事にするのはいつか分かりませんが、楽しい旅行にしたいと思いますのでお楽しみに。

社会勉強の意味合いで、「フーターズ」に行ってみたい

人は私のことを遊んでばかりいる人間で、仕事もろくにしていないんじゃないかくらいに考えているのかもですが、そんなこともありませんよ。ちゃんと私だって、週5日は働いているし、有給休暇をそんなに取っているわけでもないし、仕事の関係で他人から理不尽な目にあうことだってあるわけです。

それはともかく、関西に花見に行くので、それならついでに「フーターズ」でも行ってみようかという気になりました。だったら都内の店に行けばいいじゃんと思いますが、都内より都内でない店舗に行きたいとつい思ってしまうわけです。

それでこの記事を書いている時点で、都内以外にフーターズは、大阪と名古屋に店舗があります。名古屋も機会があればいくつもりですが、とりあえずフーターズデビューとして、大阪の店舗でと考えるわけです。

それで実際に大阪に花見で行ったのですが、だめでした。いろいろ忙しかったので疲れてしまい、とてもフーターズに行く元気がなかったのです。すぐ門真市のホテルに、京橋から京阪に乗って向かってしまいました。

しかしまあ、都内でもいいし、大阪でも名古屋でも、気が向いたらフーターズへ行ってみます。こういうところに行くのも一種の社会勉強の意味合いもあるでしょうし、そうすれば、このような写真も撮ってこれるかもしれないわけです。最初の並んでいる写真は、店のパブ写真だから、これは撮るのが難しいかもです。

桜が咲く上野公園にある東京都美術館で、ティツィアーノを観る。

あんまり「展覧会」のカテゴリーも記事を書くに至っていないのですが（ただし旅行の記事には、美術館に行った話は適宜入れています）、下の記事では、2016年3月26日に3か所（東京都美術館、国立博物館、新国立美術館）に行った際のことを書いています。

1日に3つの絵画の展覧会をはしごした

本日は、4月1日の展覧会鑑賞の話を書きます。

朝、映画を1本（この日は1日ですので、映画が安い日だったのです）見た後、新宿の万世のラーメン屋でラーメンを食べます。

前の記事でもこちらでラーメンを食べています。1年ぶりということですかね。

チケットショップで展覧会のチケットを買います。なんと350円で買えました。やったぜと思わず喜びます。ただし、安くチケットが出回っているということは、いまいち人気がない展覧会ということでもあります。

上野駅へ行き、公園へ行きます。スカイツリーにも行かなければな。

上野公園で桜をちょびっと見学します。やはり外国人がめだちます。

都美術館です。中は写真なしです。すみません。

 

個人的には、ややインパクトが足りない展覧会だったかなという気がします。明日が最終日だというのに、そんなに込んでいるわけでもない。そう考えるとやはり大幅なダンピングありの展覧会だったのかもです。

また桜の写真を撮ります。

帰りは、秋葉原駅名物（？）のステーキカレーをいただきます。安い日は690円ですのでお得です。

この後映画を2本見ましたが、やはり展覧会も外せない楽しみです。読者の皆様もいろいろいい展覧会に行ってください。そしておすすめがありましたら、コメント欄からででも私に教えてください。

クライストチャーチ大聖堂に行きます。ここがアイルランド国教会の主教会ということになっています。

いやはや、本当に天気のいい日です。

ベンチに座っているには最適な日かもです。

中に入ります。

地下に行きます。地下礼拝堂があるのです。

暗くてよくわかりませんが、これがミイラ化したネコとネズミです。この教会の名物（？）です。

外に出ます。

聖パトリック大聖堂を見学します。アイルランド最大の教会です。聖パトリックに捧げられた教会です。

カトリックでなくアイルランド国教会の教会です。

いろいろな人の胸像があります。

写真では色が褪せていますが、ステンドグラスもきれいです。

ユニオンジャックをみました。さすが国教会の教会だ、というべきかどうか。アイルランドでユニオンジャックを見たのは、この時だけです。あと写真で、バスにユニオンジャックが描かれているのは見ましたが、旅行中は気づきませんでした。

私は全く宗教心のない人間ですが、それでも教会に行くと多少なりとも荘厳な気持ちになります。

浅田真央絶賛報道にそれなりに懐疑的な人は、ある程度はいるようだ

当ブログ常連コメンテイターであられるRawanさんより、面白い記事のご紹介をいただきました。というわけで本日は、その記事をご紹介。

　お笑いコンビ「ハライチ」の岩井勇気さん（30）がラジオ番組で、フィギュアスケート選手からの現役引退を発表した浅田真央さん（26）について、「グダグダ辞めていったんだね」と感想を漏らした。「国民のアイドル」と言われていることについても「何、国民のアイドルって？」と否定したことが大きな話題になっている。

　発言への批判はあるものの、意外にも「皆が思ってることを言っただけ」という賛同の声の方が大きいようだ。メディアの異常ともいえる浅田さんの持ち上げ方にウンザリしている人も多いことが浮き彫りになった。

■「浅田を批判したり、笑うのがタブーっていう空気の方が怖い」

　この発言は、2017年4月14日未明のTBSラジオ番組「ハライチのターン！」で飛び出した。相方の澤部佑さんが、浅田さんの引退について話を振ると、岩井さんは、

　　「1回辞めるみたいなことを言ってなかった？グダグダ辞めていったんだね、じゃぁね」

と返した。あわてた澤部さんが「グダグダ辞めた」事を否定し、「国民のアイドルだよ！」と返すと、

　　「何、国民のアイドルって？」

と気のない返事をした。さらにあわてた澤部さんは、そんなことを言うと「炎上」する、と注意したところ、

　　「しねぇよ、しねぇから言ってんだよ。察してくれよ」

と語った。しかしこの発言は様々なメディアで取り上げられる事になり、大きな話題に発展した。

　浅田さんは13年4月、翌年のソチオリンピック出場を最後にして引退の意向を表明。同五輪では、金メダルが期待されたが6位に終わった。その後、14年3月に日本で行われた世界選手権で4年ぶり3度目の優勝を果たした。進退についての結論は出ず、14年5月から1年間の休養に入った。そして15年5月、18年2月に行われる平昌オリンピックを目指すと現役復帰したが国内、海外での結果は出せず、16年12月に行われた全日本選手権で12位に終わり、これが引退を決定付けた。

　今回の岩井さんの発言に対し、浅田さんのファンは怒りを露わにし、岩井さんのツイッターへの攻撃が始まり、

　　「浅田真央はあなたみたいな三流芸人とは比べ物にならないくらいの努力や実績を残してきた方ですよ。早く謝罪してください」
　　「お前みたいな無能なゴミが、アスリートをけなすとかありえんわ。お前は浅田の糞以下の価値しかねーんだよ」

などといったリプライが寄せられ「炎上」するかに思われたが、

　　「誰しもが思ってることを言っただけ。気にするなよ」

といった擁護や応援も書き込まれている。そして、ツイッターや掲示板を見ると、「よくぞ言ってくれた！」という賛同がかなり多いのだ。

　　「もやもや感じていたことを公に言ってくれた。浅田を批判したり、笑うのがタブーっていう空気の方が怖い」

「潔さがなかった」
その他にも、

　　「正論だと思うよ。岩井の事見なおした。岩井ありがとね」
　　「少なくとも浅田をアイドルだと思ったことも、オリンピックで勝てない悲劇のヒロインだと思ったこともない」
　　「いかに浅田真央にヘイトが集まっていたのかを表している」

などといったことが書き込まれている。そして、岩井さんの発言は浅田さんに向けたものではなく、異常に浅田さんを持ち上げるメディアや関係者に対する皮肉だと考えている人もいる。というのも、4月10日の引退発表から12日の記者会見以降にかけネット上で急上昇したワードは「しつこい」「うんざり」だった。

　どの局のニュースや情報番組を見ても「電波ジャックかと思われるくらいの横並びっぷり」の放送ばかりだったからだ。特にNHKが槍玉に挙がっていた。その割に、テレビ朝日系緊急特別番組「ありがとう！真央ちゃん」（4月11日放送）の平均視聴率が5・7％。フジテレビ系ドキュメント番組「浅田真央26歳の決断～今夜伝えたいこと～」の平均視聴率は7・3％で、ネット上では「視聴率が核爆死」などと取り沙汰された。

　スポーツジャーナリストの菅谷齊さんは4月20日、J-CASTニュースの取材に対し、人気選手は引退を決意したとき、時期とその明快な理由を提示することが重要なのに、

　　「潔さがなかった」

と指摘した。それは浅田さんにではなくメディアや関係者に向けたもので、ターニングポイントは3年前のソチオリンピックだったという。普通に取材しているスポーツ記者ならばあの時点で浅田さんは限界であることを知っていた。金メダルを獲ると臨んだのに結果は6位。

　　「負けは負け。期待に応えられない惨敗だった。それをメディアは『悲劇のヒロイン』『感動の演技』にすり替えた。浅田はそのシナリオに乗せられたわけだが、ファンは疑問を抱くようになり気持ちを冷やすこととなった。それは、スポーツは結果が全てだからです」

と菅谷さんは説明した。その後、平昌オリンピックを目指すとしたが惨敗が続き、結局は引退を発表。引退会見も選手が行うようなものではなく、タレントがやるような会見だった。

　　「国民的アイドルというのは、全国民に夢を見せたり、与えることができる存在を指すのです。いまの浅田がアイドルだというのなら、アイドルというものの価値はどれだけのものなのか、という気がします。もちろん浅田の実力、人気、功績というのは誰もが認めるものですが、もう周りが作り上げたアイドル状態になっているため、芸人が言ったような話に賛同する人が増えるのも無理はない話だと思います」

と菅谷さんは話していた。

＞浅田真央の引退会見の翌日のスポーツ紙は、軒並み1面が浅田真央特集で、しかも礼賛の嵐で、正直気持ち悪い思いをしました。私的には、浅田は引退時期を完全に誤って晩節を思いっきり汚したと思うんですが、潔い引退だのなんだのと、あんたらいったいどこに目がついてるんだと言いたくなるような記事ばかりで・・・（苦笑）

というご指摘をいただきました。どう評価するかはともかく、常識的に考えて、浅田真央はかなり無理に現役を続けたと思いますが、そんな明々白々なことまでマスコミはごまかそうとしていましたからね。それもどうかです。記事中スポーツライターの方がご指摘になっているように、スポーツ専門誌が

教えてくれた、浅田真央の涙。

もなにもないでしょう（苦笑）。何を馬鹿なことを書いたんだか。

いずれにせよ、建前の世界はともかく、あれはどうもなあと考えてい人はそれなりの数いるようですね。このブログの大きなテーマの一つである拉致問題も、さすがに巣食う会、家族会の態度は変なんじゃないのと考えている人たちは少なくないと思います。当ブログも、そういう声をそれなりに代弁する場所であり得ればいいなと考えます。

＞Last night, I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans.

This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I’m sorry we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country.

But I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together—this vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized campaign. You represent the best of America, and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I know how disappointed you feel, because I feel it too. And so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort. This is painful, and it will be for a long time. But I want you to remember this: Our campaign was never about one person or even one election. It was about the country we love—and about building an America that’s hopeful, inclusive, and big-hearted.

We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought. But I still believe in America—and I always will. And if you do, too, then we must accept this result—and then look to the future.

Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.

Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power, and we don’t just respect that, we cherish it. It also enshrines other things—the rule of law, the principle that we’re all equal in rights and dignity, and the freedom of worship and expression. We respect and cherish these things too—and we must defend them.

I know that we still have not shattered that highest glass ceiling. But some day someone will—hopefully sooner than we might think right now.

And to all the little girls watching right now, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world.

Finally, I am grateful to our country for all it has given me.
I count my blessings every day that I am an American. And I still believe, as deeply as I ever have, that if we stand together and work together, with respect for our differences, strength in our convictions, and love for this nation—our best days are still ahead of us.

You know I believe we are stronger together and will go forward together. And you should never be sorry that you fought for that.
Scripture tells us: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.”

My friends, let us have faith in each other. Let us not grow weary. Let us not lose heart. For there are more seasons to come and there is more work to do.

I am incredibly honored and grateful to have had this chance to represent all of you in this consequential election. May God bless you and God bless the United States of America. 

トランプ大統領の就任演説で英語の勉強をする（言行不一致も甚だしい）

2016年最後の記事（12月31日付）で、私はこんな記事を書きました。

外国人が好きな米国と、「イージー・ライダー」の主人公たちを殺す米国

その記事で私は、こんなことを書きました。

＞たとえば、それはお前の偏見といわれれば「ごもっとも」ですが、トランプやブッシュの子どもの演説なんかで英語の勉強なんかしたくないよねえ（笑）。（中略）

ヒラリーさんが当選していたら、彼女の大統領就任演説なんかを繰り返し聞いて勉強したいと思いますが、トランプの英語で勉強する気にはなりません。

そんなことを書いていて、こんなものを買ってしまいました。

ほかにも同じようなものはいくつか発売されていますが、これがたまたま寄った書店にあったので買いました。ほかは消費税込みで1,080円だったりするのですが、これは1,000円なので、そう考えるとお得ではあるかもしれません。

てめえ、書いていることと現実の行動が違うじゃないかよ！

 と、私を非難する人もそんなに多くはないかもしれませんが、しかし私もこの辺りは適当な人間です。別に他人に迷惑をかけるわけでもないからいいけど。

で、聞いた限りで言うと、内容はともかくトランプの英語はわかりやすいですね。私のように聞き取りの苦手な人間でもかなり簡単に聞き取れる。これからもトランプの英語を聞いていって、リスニングの勉強に役立てるといいかもです。

ただ私は、発言の採録テキストがないとリスニングの勉強は厳しいところがあります。このあたりもう少し力をつけていかねばならんなと考えます。

というわけで、英語を勉強したい方に少し便宜を図ります。1997年における中国への香港返還式典での際の、英国チャールズ皇太子の演説のテキストをアップロードしますので、興味のある方は聞き取ってください。右にいるのはトニー・ブレアですね。この直前の選挙でしばらくぶりに労働党が勝利したので、彼は香港返還式典に立ち会う首相になったわけです。動画とともに聞き取りをどうぞ。

Hong Kong Handover 1997 Part 3 - Prince Charles' Speech

President Jiang Zemin, Premier Li Peng, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen. This important and special ceremony marks a moment of both change and continuity in Hong Kong's history. It marks, first of all, the restoration of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China, under the terms of the Sino-British Joint Declaration of 1984, after more than 150 years of British administration. 

This ceremony also celebrates continuity because, by that same treaty and the many subsequent agreements which have been made to implement its provisions, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will have its own government, and retain its own society, its own economy and its own way of life. I should like to pay tribute this evening to those who turned to the concept "one country, two systems" into the Joint Declaration, and to the dedication and commitment of those who have worked so hard over the last thirteen years to negotiate the details of the Joint Declaration's implementation. But most of all I should like to pay tribute to the people of Hong Kong themselves for all that they have achieved in the last century and a half. The triumphant success of Hong Kong demands－ and deserves － to be maintained. Hong Kong has shown the world how dynamism and stability can be defining characteristics of a successful society. These have together created a great economy which is the envy of the world. 

Hong Kong has shown the world how East and West can live and work together. As a flourishing commercial and cultural cross~roads, it has brought us together and enriched all our lives. Thirteen years ago the Governments of the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China recognised in the Joint Declaration that these special elements which had created the crucial conditions for Hong Kong's success should continue. They agreed that, in order to maintain that success, Hong Kong should have its own separate trading and financial systems, should enjoy autonomy and an elected legislature, should maintain its laws and liberties, and should be run by the people of Hong Kong and be accountable to them. 

Those special elements have served Hong Kong well over the past two decades. Hong Kong has coped with the challenges of great economic, social and political transition with almost none of the disturbance and dislocation which in other parts of the world have so often accompanied change on such a scale. 

The United Kingdom has been proud and privileged to have had responsibility for the people of Hong Kong, to have provided a framework of opportunity in which Hong Kong has so conspicuously succeeded, and to have been part of the success which the people of Hong Kong have made of their opportunities. 

 In a few moments, The United Kingdom's responsibilities will pass to the People's Republic of China. Hong Kong will thereby be restored to China and within the framework of "one country, two systems", it will continue to have a strong identity of its own and be an important international partner for many countries in the world. Ladies and Gentlemen, China will tonight take responsibility for a place and a people which matter greatly to us all. 

The solemn pledges made before the world in the 1984 Joint Declaration guarantee the continuity of Hong Kong's way of life. For its part the United Kingdom will maintain its unwavering support for the Joint Declaration. Our commitment and our strong links to Hong Kong will continue, and will I am confident, flourish, as Hong Kong and its people themselves continue to flourish. 

Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, I should like behalf of Her Majesty The Queen and of the entire British people to express our thanks, admiration, affection, and good wishes to all the people of Hong Kong, who have been such staunch and special friends over so many generations. We shall not forget you, and we shall watch with the closest interest as you embark on this new era of your remarkable history.
