百人一首に
「かくとだに えやは伊吹の さしも草 さしも知らじな 燃ゆる思ひを・藤原実方」
と歌われている山です。
古来より薬草の山として知られていました。
1558年、織田信長がポルトガルの宣教師から薬草を入手し、
薬草園を作りました。
伊吹山には、黄花の連理草（キバナノレンリソウ）という花が自生していますが
これはヨーロッパ原産で
日本では伊吹山でしか見られません。
織田信長の薬草園から帰化したと考えられています。
現在、伊吹山の植物群は国の天然記念物となり、
600種の植物が壮大なお花畑を作っています。

It became famous poetry by Fujiwara Sanekata.
It is published at the poetical works (September 16, 1086 completion) made from the 72nd
Emperor Shirakawa (reign: January 18, 1073 - January 5, 1087) command.(N.B.)
It was known as a mountain which cultivates a medicinal herb more from ancient times.
The missionary of Portugal made the herb garden in 1558.
Meadow vetchling grows wild in Mt.Ibuki.
This is a plant of Europe and it can see only in Mt.Ibuki in Japan.
It is thought that it was naturalized from the herb garden in the 16th century.
Now, the plant population of Mt.Ibuki is the natural treasure which the Government of Japan defined.
There is a grand flower garden by 600 sorts of plants.
Note:Today's Emperor Akihito is the 125th Emperor.
