リアル

昨日、一人の先生の話がとても印象的だった。

テーマは就職についてだった。
このコースを卒業しただけでは都市計画の職業に就くのは不十分とのこと。
GISや、InDesignなどのAdobeソフトウェアを使えることが前提条件らしい。
PublicやPrivateの会社に関わらず、限られた予算の中から給料を払っているのだから
それなりに特別なことも出来なければいけないということだ。
特にリーディングして知識を貯めるこんだとしても具体的な使い道がない、
なのでもっと実用的なことに時間を使いなさいとも。
そうでなければ就職してもただのお茶係になってしまうと。
就職を探すことのシビアさを改めて感じせられることになった。
その先生がハーバードで修士を取得したこともあり、
なおさら一つ一つの言葉に重みを感じた。

留学に抱いていた淡い希望を砕くにはその話は十分すぎるリアルだった。
