In December 1956 me and my family went from Wolf Point Montana to
Seattle Washington for my grandparents 50 wedding aniversary, on that
fabulis Great Northren empire builder. On our return after Christmas
back to Wolf Point Montana, just after we left Edmonds Washington
there was a landslide and the engion and the first two or three cars
went into Pudget Sound. We were the first passinger car on the train.
I can still see my mom and dad, my mom's eyes were closed, both of
them holding on to the arms of the chairs. I was by the window, i saw
rhe engion rail and all fly out into the water.there were several
cars behind us covered in mud. I dont no how long it was but we herd
a cracking sound and we looked up and saw the hill coming down the
trees didnt even fall over. my dad grabbed my are and my mom grabbed
my sister and yelled run, We ran to the end of the train. There was
only 3 cars left on the track. Then arround the corner came a fraight
train ,,,slammed on his brakes it looked like the 4th of July. It
stoped close to the end of the train, this was before cell phones
computers and all this good stough. I was wondering if any one had
pictures or articles on this. my sister is terning 60 this year and I
wanted to find all the history that has gone on over the years. I
have e-mailed the news paper in Seattle the Great Northren Empire
Builder web page. the paper and library says they dont have that
stough back that far , to them i said GOOD GRIEF PEOPLE THATS NOT
OLD. I sure hope that you can help me, if not I hope you injoyed my
story. Sharon Maiden
