ハワイのメアリーシーザー先生のデザインコースワークショップを
受けてきました。メアリー先生のワークは１日中。
正直、疲れて、最後は何もできないのではないかと思っていたのですが。
１日楽しくあっという間に終わってしまいました。
できあがったデザインは約１メートル四方のウォールハンギングです。
世界に１つだけのデザインができあがったわけです。
メアリーさんは新しい道具や布づかいを積極的に使われます。
伝統的なものもそれはそれで素敵だけれども、
メアリーさんの新しいハワイアンキルトはとても楽しく作れ、
もっと、どんどん、いろいろな人にハワイアンキルトを楽しんでほしいという
気持ちが伝わってきました。
楽しかった～。
This was a fun ‘work shop’. I hadn’t had anything like this for a long time. She showed us a lot of techniques to draw and think. If you have the experience of drawing, you can draw easier, if you don’t have any experience of drawing, you can start drawing. Well, I mean, if you don’t have any experience, after you hold the pencils, you don’t know what you can do next? This week it is very interesting, two famous quilters visited Japan from Hawai’i. One of them has a very traditional way she learned from her grandmother, another one likes creating her own way. I know both of them now, and these differences are very, very interesting. I like both ways, and it is a good experience to know both ways.
