Soon he extended these time-and-motion studies to typing, and Margaret Owen, who was trained by Gilbreth for the Remington Typewriter Company, won the country's annual typing championship: 150 words per minute without mistakes. From Gilbreth's work and others' came studies of proper foot position, assembly-line stance and more ways to save time and money. Eventually, the science was named ergonomics.
