ダニエル書９章
メデス人の子孫で、カルデア王国の王となったアハシュエロス王の子ダリウスの一年目。
2 その治世の一年に、私ダニエルは書物の中で、主の言葉が預言者エレミヤに臨んだ年数、すなわちエルサレムの荒廃のために七十年を成し遂げようとする年数について思いをめぐらせました。
3 私は神である主の前に顔を出し、断食と袋と灰で祈りと願いをもちいて求めました。
4 私はわが神である主に祈り、告白して言いました。
「主よ！大いなる神！あなたを愛し、あなたの戒めを守る者に、契約と憐みを保ってくださる方よ！
5 私達は罪を犯し、不義を行い、悪を行い、反逆し、あなたの戒めとあなたの定めから離れました。
6 あなたの僕である預言者達が、あなたの名によって、私達の王達、王子達、先祖達、およびこの国のすべての民に語ったことに、私達は耳を傾けなかったのです。
7 主よ！義はあなたに属しています。
しかし、私達は今日のように顔を曇らせてしまいました。
なぜなら、あなたが彼らを追いやったすべての国で、ユダの人々、エルサレムの住民、および、近きも遠きもすべてのイスラエルの人々があなたに不義を行ったからです。
8 主よ！私達はあなたに罪を犯したので、私達の王達、つかさ達、および私達の先祖達のせいで顔をゆがめることがあります。
9 私達の神である主には憐れみと赦しがありますが、私達は主に逆らったからです。
10 私達の神である主がその僕である預言者達によって、私達の前に示されたそのトーラー｛律法｝を歩むために、主の声に耳を傾けることもありませんでした。
11 イスラエルはみな、あなたのトーラー｛律法｝に背き、あなたの声に聞き従わなかったので、神の僕モーセのトーラー｛律法｝にしるされている呪いと誓いが私達の上に注がれたのです。
12 私達と私達を裁く裁判官に対して語られた御言葉を神は確めて、私達の上に大いなる災い｛悪｝をもたらされました。
13 モーセのトーラー｛律法｝に書いてあるように、このすべての災いは私達に臨みました。

14 主はこの悪を見守り、私達に臨まれました。

15 私達の神である主は力強い御手で、あなたの民をエジプトの地から導き出し、今日のように、あなたの名声を得られました。
私達は罪を犯し、悪を行いました。
16 主よ！あなたのすべての義によって、あなたの怒りと憤りを、あなたの町エルサレム、あなたの聖なる山から退けてください！
なぜなら、私達の罪と先祖達の咎のせいで、エルサレムとあなたの民は、私達の周りにいるすべての者のそしりとなってしまったのですから。
17 それゆえ、私達の神よ！あなたの僕の祈りとその願いに耳を傾けてください！
そして、主御自身のために、荒れ果てたあなたの聖所を、あなたの御顔で照らしてください！
18 わが神よ！耳を傾けて聞いてください！
目を開いて、私達の荒廃とあなたの名が呼ばれる町を見てください！
19 主よ！お聞きください！主よ！おゆるしください！
主よ！出席し、行い、延期しないでください！
わが神よ！あなた御自身のために、あなたの御名があなたの町とあなたの民から呼ばれるために！」
20 私が語り、祈り、私の罪と、私の民イスラエルの罪を告白し、私の神である主の前に私の神の聖なる山のために願を捧げている間に、
21 そう、私が祈って話していると、初めに幻で見た人ガブリエルが、素早く飛んできて、夕べの供え物の頃、私の近くに近づいて来ました。
22 そして、彼は私を理解させようとして、私と語り合って言いました。
「ダニエルよ！私は今、あなたを理解することに熟練させるために来たのだ。
23 あなたの願いのはじめに、言葉が出たので、私はそれを告げに来た。
24 あなたの民とあなたの聖なる町には、七十週の定めがある。
それは罪を終わらせ、咎を赦し、永遠の義をもたらし、幻と預言者を封じ、最も聖なる所に油をそそぐためである。
25 それゆえ、油注がれた一人の王子のために、エルサレムを回復し建設するという言葉が発せられてから、七週間となり、三十三週と二週の間、広い所と堀を備えて、再び建設されるが、それはたいへんな時であることを知り、見きわめなさい！
26 三十三週と二週の後、油注がれた者は断たれ、もはやいなくなり、来たるべき王子の民は都と聖所とを滅ぼし、その終わりは洪水となり、戦争の終わりまで荒れ果てることが決定されている。
27 彼は一週間の間、多くの者と堅い契約を結び、その週の半分の間、犠牲と供え物とを絶やさせ、憎むべきものの翼の上には、アパルメントを起こすものがあり、完全に定められた滅亡まで、アパルメントを起こすものの上に注がれるであろう。」

4 私は、私の神、主に祈り、告白して言った。「ああ、私の主、大いなる恐るべき神。あなたを愛し、あなたの命令を守る者には、契約を守り、恵みを下さる方。
5 私達は罪を犯し、不義をなし、悪を行い、あなたにそむき、あなたの命令と定めとを離れました。
6 私達はまた、あなたの僕である預言者達が御名によって、私達の王達、首長達、先祖達、および一般の人すべてに語ったことばに、聞き従いませんでした。
7 主よ。正義はあなたのものですが、不面目な私達のもので、今日あるとおり、ユダの人々、エルサレムの住民のもの、また、あなたが追い散らされたあらゆる国々で、近く、あるいは遠くにいるすべてのイスラエル人のものです。これは、彼らがあなたに逆らった不信の罪のためです。
8 主よ。不面目は、あなたに罪を犯した私達と私達の王達、首長達、および先祖達のものです。
9 あわれみと赦しとは、私達の神、主のものです。これは私達が神にそむいたからです。

16 主よ。あなたのすべての正義のみわざによって、どうか御怒りと憤りを、あなたの町エルサレム、あなたの聖なる山からおさめてください。私達の罪と私達の先祖達の悪のために、エルサレムとあなたの民が、私達を取り囲むすべての者のそしりとなっているからです。
17 私達の神よ。今、あなたの僕の祈りと願いとを聞き入れ、主ご自身のために、御顔の光を、あなたの荒れ果てた聖所に輝かせてください。
18 私の神よ。耳を傾けて聞いてください。目を開いて私達の荒れすさんださまと、あなたの御名がつけられている町をご覧ください。私達が御前に伏して願いをささげるのは、私達の正しい行いによるのではなく、あんたの大いなるあわれみによるのです。
19 主よ。聞いてください。主よ。お赦しください。主よ。心に留めて行ってください。私の神よ。あなたご自身のために遅らせないでください。あなたの町と民とには、あなたの名がつけられているからです。」
20 私がまだ語り、祈り、自分の罪と自分の民イスラエルの罪を告白し、私の神の聖なる山のために、私の神、主の前に伏して願いをささげていたとき、
21 すなわち、私がまだ祈って語っているとき、私が初めに幻の中で見たあの人、ガブリエルが、夕方のささげ物をささげるころ、すばやく飛んで来て、私に近づき、
22 私に告げて言った。「ダニエルよ。私は今、あなたに悟りを授けるために出て来た。
23 あなたが願いの祈りを始めたとき、一つのみことばが述べられたので、私はそれを伝えに来た。あなたは、神に愛されている人だからだ。そのみことばを聞き分け、幻を悟れ。
24 あなたの民とあなたの聖なる都については、七十週が定められている。それは、そむきをやめさせ、罪を終わらせ、咎を贖い、永遠の義をもたらし、幻と預言とを確証し、至聖所に油をそそぐためである。
25 それゆえ、知れ、悟れ。引き揚げてエルサレムを再建せよ、との命令が出てから、油そそがれた者、君主の来るまでが七週。また六十二週の間、その苦しみの時代に再び広場とほりが建て直される。
26 その六十二週の後、油そそがれた者は断たれ、彼には何も残らない。やがて来たるべき君主の民が町と至聖所を破壊する。その終わりには洪水が起こり、その終わりまで戦いが続いて、荒廃が定められている。

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
2 in the first year of his reign I Daniel meditated in the books, over the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish for the desolations of Jerusalem seventy years.
3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.
4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made confession, and said: 'O Lord, the great and awful God, who keepest covenant and mercy with them that love Thee and keep Thy commandments,
5 we have sinned, and have dealt iniquitously, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, and have turned aside from Thy commandments and from Thine ordinances;
6 neither have we hearkened unto Thy servants the prophets, that spoke in Thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 Unto Thee, O Lord, belongeth righteousness, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither Thou hast driven them, because they dealt treacherously with Thee.
8 O LORD, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against Thee.
9 To the Lord our God belong compassions and forgivenesses; for we have rebelled against Him;
10 neither have we hearkened to the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.
11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed Thy law, and have turned aside, so as not to hearken to Thy voice; and so there hath been poured out upon us the curse and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God; for we have sinned against Him.
12 And He hath confirmed His word, which He spoke against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil; so that under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us; yet have we not entreated the favour of the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in Thy truth.
14 And so the LORD hath watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for the LORD our God is righteous in all His works which He hath done, and we have not hearkened to His voice.
15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought Thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten Thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
16 O Lord, according to all Thy righteousness, let Thine anger and Thy fury, I pray Thee, be turned away from Thy city Jerusalem, Thy holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
17 Now therefore, O our God, hearken unto the prayer of Thy servant, and to his supplications, and cause Thy face to shine upon Thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
18 O my God, incline Thine ear, and hear; open Thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city upon which Thy name is called; for we do not present our supplications before Thee because of our righteousness, but because of Thy great compassions.
19 O Lord, hear, O Lord, forgive, O Lord, attend and do, defer not; for Thine own sake, O my God, because Thy name is called upon Thy city and Thy people.'
20 And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
21 yea, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, approached close to me about the time of the evening offering.
22 And he made me to understand, and talked with me, and said: 'O Daniel, I am now come forth to make thee skilful of understanding.
23 At the beginning of thy supplications a word went forth, and I am come to declare it; for thou art greatly beloved; therefore look into the word, and understand the vision.
24 Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sin, and to forgive iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint the most holy place.
25 Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto one anointed, a prince, shall be seven weeks; and for threescore and two weeks, it shall be built again, with broad place and moat, but in troublous times.
26 And after the threescore and two weeks shall an anointed one be cut off, and be no more; and the people of a prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; but his end shall be with a flood; and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and upon the wing of detestable things shall be that which causeth appalment; and that until the extermination wholly determined be poured out upon that which causeth appalment.'
