9. 多くの若者が洗脳されて、テロリストになっている。

→洗脳とは、通常brainwash を使う。
・A lot of young people are brainwashed into becoming terrorists.

洗脳とは、何か。ある危険思想を、信じ込ませること。英語としては、believe（信じる）などを使えるだろうか。

・They believe something bad and become terrorists.

これだけだと、洗脳という、ある種の強制的な所が感じられないので、be forced to (強いられる）を補って

・Many young people are forced to believe something bad and become terrorists.

洗脳とは、悪い人が、悪い事を教えることである。

・Bad people teach bad things and many young people become terrorists.


洗脳する内容は危険な事柄（dangerous)なので
・Bad people teach something dangerous to young people to make them terrorists.

teach（教える）と来れば、反対のlearn（習う）も考えて、

・Young people learn from bad teachers and believe something dangerous, and become terrorists.


考え方としては、日本語の『洗脳』の語感に引きずられると、どうしても『水』やら『洗う』やらのイメージがつきまとう。簡単英語で表現するには、洗脳とはそもそも何か、を考える必要がある。 考えると、上記のようになる。brainwash も知っていて、尚かつ簡単にも言い換えることができたら、洗脳に関して、あれこれ語ることもできるし、brainwashだけ言って後は何も言うことがない、という我々日本人学習者がもつ弱点を克服することもできるだろう。一番いいのは、難しい単語を覚える時、同時に、自分の英語で、簡単に言い換えたらどうなるかも考えておいたら、ボキャビルと共に、英会話力向上にもつながる。


他に、洗脳とは、疑わない(not doubt)こと

・They listen to their dangerous leaders and never doubt.

疑わないとは、考えないこと。

・They just listen to their teachers and not think at all.

→被害に遭うとは、具体的に考えると、

である。よって、

『被害に遭った』という受動態を能動態にしてもよい。

→『テロ撲滅』とは何か。
・fight terrorism. （戦う）

・beat terrorism. （やっつける）
・get rid of terrorists. (始末する）

テロ撲滅とは、テロが無い社会をつくること。
・build a society without terrorism.

テロ撲滅とは、テロリストがいなくなって欲しいと願うこと。
・We want all the terrorists to go away.
・We don't want any terrorists.

国際的な連係とは。

国際的とは、全世界。＝私たち＝We.
連係とは、一緒に行うこと。助けあうこと。協力。

・We all should work together to fight terrorism.

・Each country must help each other to make sure there will be no more terrorists someday.

・The whole world must fight together against terrorism.

→ 通常使われる表現としては、

他に簡単な言い方を考える。


『交渉しない』＝話を聞かないこと(not listen)

『交渉しない』＝話をしない（not talk)
・The U.S. does not talk with terrorists.
