弥勒よ、知るべきである
Maitreya, you should know
その時の集まりの中で
At that time, in the assembly
二十億の菩薩がいる
There are two billion Bodhisattvas
喜んで教えを聞きたがる
Joyfully desiring to hear the Dharma
これらの多くの菩薩
These many Bodhisattvas
この光を見る
Seeing this light
仏土全体を広く照らす
Illuminating all Buddha lands
かつてないものを得る
Gained something unprecedented
この光について知りたい
Desiring to know this light
その目的や理由
The purpose and cause
その時、菩薩がいた
At that time, there was a Bodhisattva
名前を妙光という
Named Myōkō (Wondrous Light)
八百人の弟子がいる
Having eight hundred disciples
この時、日月燈明仏は
At this time, Buddha Nichigatsu Tōmyō
三昧から起き上がる
Arising from Samadhi
妙光菩薩に因ませ
By the Bodhisattva Myōkō
大乗の経典を説く
Preaching the Mahayana sutras
妙法蓮華という名前
Named the Lotus Sutra of Wondrous Dharma
菩薩に説く教え
Teaching the Dharma to Bodhisattvas
仏のいる所を守り念じる
Protected and remembered by the Buddha
六十の小劫（仏教における長い時間の単位）
Sixty small kalpas
座席から起きない
Not rising from the seat
集会の聴衆
The listeners in the assembly
また一つの場所に座る
Also seated in one place
六十の小劫
Sixty small kalpas
身も心も動かない
Unmoving in body and mind
仏が説かれたことを聞く
Listening to what the Buddha taught
その長さ、食事の時間のように思える
As if it were the time taken to eat
この時、集まりの中で
At this time, in the assembly
一人もいない
Not a single person
身体か心か
Whether body or mind
怠け心や飽きが生じること
Becoming lazy or weary
