ドクター・フーのデビットテナントがこの夏ハムレットを演じている。
イギリスに行った時に観れないかなぁ、と思って、
電話したり、ホームページ見たりしていたんだけど、だめだった。
どうせ、通り道なので劇場まで行って盛り上がっている気分だけは
味わってこようかなぁと、ストラトフォードアポンエイボンにある
ロイヤルシェイクスピア劇場まで行ってきました。
やっぱりチケットは徹夜組がでるぐらいの人気ですぐSOLD OUTに
なってしまったそうです。
立ち見席というのならまだ買えたのですが、まさか買えるなんて思わなかったので，子供連れでは無理だし、急に子供を見ていてくれる人も見つかるわけもなく、泣く泣くあきらめました。
劇場ツアーがありまして、公演の前に舞台、舞台裏をみることのできるのですが、
それに参加しました。
舞台はとても小さくて、そのまわりを取り囲むように客席がありました。
こんな、舞台が近いのって見た事ないかも。
なんだか、この古い劇場はとても気持ちのいい空間で住みたいぐらい。
デビットテナントの人気だけでなく、もともとのシェイクスピアファンの
方々にとっても、久しぶりのハムレットということが満席になった理由のようですが、この劇場にきてその意味がわかったような気がしました。
イギリス国民がシェイクスピアを大切にしている事をツアーでヒシヒシ感じたあとは、売店へ。
パンフレットだけは買ってみました・・・。
はぁ～。観たかったなぁ。
この劇場で、ハムレット・・・・。
たぶん、もう２度と行われることはないだろうなぁ。
ちょっとさびしいけれど、仕方ありません。
いつか戻ってきてここでシェイクスピアを観たいですね・・・。
一生のうちにしたい事の１つかも。
I can’t believe English people still love Shakespeare so much. Not only weird people, all ordinary people love Shakespeare, maybe the same way as they love Dr. Who so much. If I thought about Japan, I wondered, do we have something we really love like English people? I think English people are good at keeping old thing, they don’t mind old tatty things.
How many times have I been to England? I suppose quite lot of times. I’ve even stopped counting the numbers I’ve visited there now. I was surprised I didn’t feel any special feeling when I got arrived there. Nothing special. I felt completely the same feeling as though I was in Yokohama. Our first hotel was a terribly dark and cheap place, but I didn’t mind about that. Actually I was surprised about me like that. At the coffee shop in Oxford, that was a horrible dirty coffee shop; bread crumbs everywhere, and the piles of dust the edge of the window. But I didn’t feel so bad. I was wondering, is it because I got used to being in England? Or I gave up about England like that all the time? The plate was dirty, but I didn’t mind. The chipped of plate, I didn’t mind. I stopped eating chips, maybe this is the only thing to say against England?
I love England, and I hate England. Well, that sounds more exciting, doesn’t it?
