More than the greatest love the world has known This is the love I'll give to you alone More than the simple words I try to say I only live to love you more each day
More than you'll never know my arms long to hold you so My life will be in your keeping, waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping Longer than always is long long time But far beyond forever you'll be mine
I know I never lived before and my heart is very sure No one else could love you more No one else could love you more
THE DAYS OF PEARLY SPENCERRAYMOND LEFEVRE パーリースペンサーの日々
The Days of Pearly Spencer David McWilliams
A tenement, a dirty street Walked and worn by shoeless feet In silence long and so complete Watched by a shivering sun Old eyes in a small child's face Watching as the shadows race Through walls, and cracks and leave no trace And daylight's brightness shuns
The days of Pearly Spencer Ah, ah, ah The race is almost run
Nose pressed hard on frosted glass Gazing as the swollen mass On concrete fields where grows no grass
Stumbles blindly on Iron trees smother the air But withering they stand and stare Through eyes that neither know nor care Where the grass has gone
The days of Pearly Spencer Ah, ah, ah The race is almost run
Pearly, where's your milk-white skin? What's that stubble on your chin? It's buried in the rot-gut gin
You played and lost not won You played a house that can't be beat Now look, your head's bowed in defeat You walked too far along the street Where only rats can run
The days of Pearly Spencer Ah, ah, ah The race is almost run
By the time I go to Phoenix she'll be risin' She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door She'll laugh when she reads the part that says I'm leavin' `Cause I've left that girl so many times before
By the I make Albuquerque she'll be workin' She'll probably stop at lunch and give me call But she'll just hear taht phone keep on ringin' Off the wall that's all
By the time I make Oklahoma she'll be sleepin' She'll turn softly and call my name out low And she'll cry just to think I'd realy leave her `Tho time and time I've tried to tell her so She just didn't know I would really go
