My have experience with the 9'1" pro and the 9'8 pro of the boards you mention. I am a big fan of the 9'8" pro as it has that 'longboard feel' - longer connecting rides in moderate sloppy waves, compared to the 8'5 Pro (more short and snappy). The turning abilities; bottom and top turns did catch me by surprise in a positive way! The 9'1" has been with me in Holland for a while (as I took the prototype last year). It has a looser feel than the 9'8" and still has good length to catch the waves. I wonder what the 9'8 Element offers you - and what it compares to.
