『待つわ』-⑨
月夜の晩リラの木陰で始めてキスを交わした二人は、裏の勝手口まで戻ってきた。
⑨戸口に立つと、暗がりの中で彼の白い歯がちらりと見えたので、いま彼の青い目がどんな眼差しなのか彼女は知っていた。彼に見つめられた時に、しばしば見てきた柔らかな優しさを秘めた、あの眼差しに違いないと。
彼は「朝一番に電話するよ」と言って、そっと彼女の顔を引き寄せ、額に軽くキスをした。（続く）
原文⑨As they stood at the door she saw the flash of his teeth in the darkness and she knew how his blue eyes must look, with that kind of gentle softness in them she had seen sometimes when he looked at her.
"I'll call you first thing in the morning," he said, quietly, tipping her face upward and kissing her lightly on her forehead.
