これらの多くの王子
These many princes
父親が出家したと聞く
Hearing that their father renounced the household
阿耨多羅三藐三菩提の悟りを得る
Attaining Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi
全ての王位を捨てる
Completely renouncing royal positions
また従って出家する
Also following and renouncing the household
大乗の心を発す
Giving rise to the Mahayana mind
常に清らかな行いを修める
Always practicing pure conduct
皆が法師となる
All became Dharma teachers
数え切れないほどの仏のもとで
Already in the presence of countless Buddhas
多くの善行を育てる
Cultivating many virtuous roots
この時、日月燈明仏は
At that time, Buddha Nichigatsu Tōmyō
大乗の経典を説く
Preaching the Mahayana sutras
無量義という名前
Named Infinite Meanings
菩薩に教えを説く
Teaching the Dharma to Bodhisattvas
仏が守り念じている所
Protected and remembered by the Buddha
この経を説き終える
Having finished preaching this sutra
すぐに大衆の中で
Immediately among the great assembly
足を組んで座る
Assume the full-lotus position
無量義の三昧に入る
Entering the Samadhi of Infinite Meanings
身も心も動かない
Unmoving in body and mind
この時、天界から曼陀羅華が降る
At this time, celestial Mandarava flowers rained down
偉大な曼陀羅華
Great celestial Mandarava flowers
赤い天界の花
Red celestial flowers
偉大な曼殊沙華
Great celestial Manjushaka flowers
仏の上に散らす
And scattered above the Buddha
多くの集まりにも
And upon the great assembly
仏の世界全体に広く
Throughout the Buddha’s world
六つの種類の地震が起きる
Six kinds of tremors

また日月燈明と名付けられ

次にまた仏がいる
Next, there was another Buddha
また日月燈明と名付けられる
Also named Nichigatsu Tōmyō
このようにして2万の仏がいる
In this way, there were 20,000 Buddhas
みな同じ名前である
All had the same name
日月燈明を号する
Titled Nichigatsu Tōmyō
再び同じ姓を持つ
Again, sharing the same surname
頗羅墮という姓である
The surname is Śvaraṇa
弥勒よ、知りなさい
Maitreya, you should know
最初の仏も後の仏も
The first and later Buddhas
みな同じ名前である
share the same name
名は日月燈明である
The name is Nichigatsu Tōmyō
十の称号を完全に備える
Fully endowed with ten titles
説かれるべき教え
The teachings to be expounded
初め、中間、最後が善である
The beginning, middle, and end are good
その最後の仏
That final Buddha
まだ出家していない時
Before renouncing the household
八人の王子がいる
There were eight princes
一番目の名前は有意
The first name is Yu-i (Meaningful)
二番目の名前は善意
The second name is Zen-i (Good Intent)
三番目の名前は無量意
The third name is Muryō-i (Infinite Meaning)
四番目の名前は寶意
The fourth name is Hō-i (Precious Meaning)
五番目の名前は増意
The fifth name is Zō-i (Growing Meaning)
六番目の名前は除疑意
The sixth name is Jo-gi-i (Doubt-Clearing Meaning)
七番目の名前は嚮意
The seventh name is Gō-i (Directed Meaning)
八番目の名前は法意
The eighth name is Hō-i (Dharma Meaning)
これらの八人の王子
These eight princes
威厳と徳性が自由自在に備わる
Majestic and free in virtue
それぞれ四方の世界を治める
Each rules over one of the four continents

多くの善良な男性たちよ
Many virtuous men,
過去のように
Just like the past
無量で無辺
Infinite and boundless
思い量ることができない
Inconceivable
計り知れない長い時間
An incalculably long time
その時に仏がいた
At that time, there was a Buddha
日月燈明如来と号する
Titled Nichigatsu Tōmyō Nyōrai
應供：供養を受けるにふさわしい
ou・gu：Worthy of offerings
正遍知：万物を正しく知る
shou・hen・chi：Perfect knowledge
明行足：知恵と修行が完全である
myou・gyou・soku：Perfect in wisdom and practice
善逝：良き道へ行った者
zen・zei：The Well-Gone One
世間解：世間を理解する者
se・ken・ge：Knower of the World
無上士：比類なき優れた者
mu・jou・ji：Peerless one
調御丈夫：自らを制御した偉大な者
jou・go・jou・bu：Tamer of Himself
天人師：天と人間の師
ten・nin・shi：Teacher of gods and men
佛：仏
butsu：The Buddha
世尊：仏陀の尊称
se・son：the World-Honored One
正しい教えを説き広める
Expounding the correct Dharma
最初の善
The initial goodness
中間の善
The intermediate goodness
最後の善
The ultimate goodness
その意義は深く遠い
Its meaning is profound and far-reaching
その言葉は巧妙である
Its words are skillful and marvelous
純粋で混じりけがない
Pure and unadulterated
清らかで明らかに備わる
Fully endowed with purity and clarity
清らかな行いの姿
The mark of pure conduct
声聞を求める者のために
For those who seek the Śrāvaka path
四諦の教えを説く
Preaching the Four Noble Truths
生・老・病・死を渡らせる
Liberating from birth, aging, sickness, and death
最終的な涅槃
Ultimate Nirvana
辟支仏を求める者のために
For those who seek the Pratyekabuddha path
十二因縁の教えを説く
Preaching the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination
菩薩たちのために
For all Bodhisattvas
六波羅蜜の教えを説く
Preaching the Six Pāramitās
無上の悟りを得させる
Enabling the attainment of Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi
一切種智を成し遂げる
Attaining omniscient wisdom

At that time
文殊菩薩（知恵の菩薩）
Mañjuśrī, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom
弥勒菩薩摩訶薩に語る
Speaking to Maitreya Bodhisattva Mahasattva
及び、多くの偉大な修行者たち
And the many great practitioners
善良な男性たちよ
Good men
私が推し量って思うに
As I think
今の仏である世尊
The present World-Honored One
大きな教えを説こうとする
Desiring to preach the great Dharma
大いなる法の雨を降らせる
Pouring down the great rain of Dharma
大法螺を吹く
Blowing the great Dharma conch
大法鼓を打つ
Beating the great Dharma drum
大法の意義を広める
Expounding the meaning of the great Dharma
多くの善良な男性たち
Many virtuous men
私は過去の多くの仏において
I, in the presence of Buddhas of the past
かつてこの瑞兆を見た
I once saw this auspicious sign
この光を放った後
After emitting this light
まもなく大法を説く
Immediately preaching the great Dharma
だから知るべきである
Therefore, you should know
今、仏が光を現す
Now, the Buddha manifests light
またこのように
Likewise, it is the same
衆生に～させたい
Wanting to make sentient beings...
ことごとく聞知を得させる
So that all may hear and know
すべての世間
The entire world
信じ難い教え
A teaching hard to believe
ゆえにこの瑞兆を現す
Thus, this auspicious sign appears

仏弟子（文殊師利）がその時答える
The Buddha's disciple answers at that time
疑問を解決し喜びを与える
Resolving doubts and bringing joy
どこで利益を与えるのか
Where is the benefit?
この光明を説き広める
Spreading and explaining this radiance
仏が道場に座る
The Buddha sitting in the Dharma hall
得た素晴らしい教え
The wonderful teaching obtained
このことを説くために
In order to explain this
授記（予言）を与えるために
To make predictions or declarations
多くの仏土を示す
Showing the lands of many Buddhas
多くの宝で飾られ清浄である
Adorned with many treasures and pure
多くの仏を見る
And seeing many Buddhas
これは小さな因縁ではない
This is no small cause
文殊よ、知るべき
Manjushri, you should know
四衆と竜神たち
The four assemblies and dragon gods
慈悲深い方を仰ぎ察する
Observing and perceiving the compassionate one
何を説こうとしているのか
What is to be explained?
