なぜレコードプレーヤーにアース線が必要なのかというと・・・
複数のオーディオ機器が100Vの壁のコンセントに接続されているからです。
では、電池で動作する機器にアースは必要なのか？
必要ありません。
iPodをヘッドホンで聴くときにアースは必要ありません。
アナログプレーヤー、フォノアンプ、プリアンプ、パワーアンプ等々
たくさんの機器がコンセントに接続され、
たくさんの電源によるループが発生します。
その中でも、特に信号レベルが低く、
ノイズの影響を受け易いのはアナログプレーヤーやフォノアンプ。
そのノイズを軽減させるものがアース線なのです。
アース線はノイズそのものがなくなるわけはなく
ノイズの影響が軽減されるという程度のものです。
機器の置き方、ケーブル、電源等を工夫すれば
更にハムを減らすことはできますが、
ゼロにはなりません。
ゼロにすることができるのはバッテリードライブのみなのです。

Why is an earth wire required for a record player?
It is because two or more audio instruments are connected to the power supply.
Is a ground circuit required for the apparatus which operates by a battery?
It is unnecessary.
A ground circuit is unnecessary when hearing iPod by headphone.
Many audio instruments, such as an analog player,
phono amplifier, a preamplifier, and power amplifier, are connected to a power supply.
Many power supply loops occur.
Especially a signal level is low and
it is an analog player and the phono amplifier which are easy to
be subject to the influence of a noise.
The thing which makes the noise reduce is an earth wire.
The noise of an earth wire itself is not lost.
The influence of a noise is reduced.
A ham can be reduced if how to place apparatus, a cable, a power supply, etc. are devised.
However, it does not become zero.
It is that it can be made zero only a battery drive.
